This presentation introduces the problem of quickly drained batteries and annoying cables. Then it suggests a solution consisting of wireless electricity.
In this project we choose two problems to solve. Cable and Battery problem. Batteries do not last long and this is a huge problem in modern world . I think all of us had or having this problem right now. And even if we find charger it may not fit our phone.
Also cable problem is a very annoying situation in daily life. Everyday people lose time to solve mixed cables like headphone or computer cables. Maybe right now there are some people who have mixed headphone cables in their pocket. We have one solution to fix these problems. But firstly look at today’s insufficent solutions
People try to find some solution for cable issues like wireless charger and disposable batteries.
One of them is wireless changer. Electronic devices should touch the wireless charger in order to charge. Therefore this technology is not be solve for cable problem.
Second solution is disposable batteries. Disposable batteries can cause environment pollution and lack of mine. So this technology is not useful.
In short, these type technological development can make easy people life a little bit. However, these are not exact and long lasting solutions.
Our solition to these problems is wireless electricity stations like Wi-Fi’s. Computers, phones, headphones will connect it automatically. Therefore, there won’t be a need for batteries. Or need for batteries will be like hybrid cars that uses gas when there is no electricity. Devices will use batteries when there is no wireless electricity station and this used battery will be charged when phone goes in a wireless electricity area.
We thought our station like a Wi-Fi device but it can be like a base station. Maybe it is more logical but we will contoniue with Wi-Fi like station. I think you wonder how can it be bulit. There are some techniques to do that but we don’t know excact solution. If we’ve known it we would do it.
Scientists have been working on wireless power transmission since Nikola Tesla. Tesla succeeded lighting a lamp without using any cable. Scientists have different approaches on wireless power transmission. The first approach is radio waves. This method can be done in long distances but with great disavantages. Scientist can light a Led in 2 km distance but the energy transmitted is too low. So, it is not useful.
Another approach is power pads. We are able to charge our mobile devices without using cables with these devices. These devices are really low-cost and useful but the biggest disavantage is that they work in very small distances.
Some scientsts aim to transmit power with using electromagnetic resonance. For example, If this method is tried to apply in worldwide, They have create a magnetic field as large as world’s magnetic field. Another critic about this method is that it may be harmful for people health.
We can also use this solution with elecric cars on the roads. There won’t be a need for electric stations or gas stations. While car goes on the road, wireless electricity stations near the road will charge it electricity. Station will produce electricity with sun panels.
Let’s look at electric cars and its battery problem. As you know, electric cars works by lithium-ion batteries. And this batteries take long time when it charge. And also, battery life is decreasing when the batteries charge. Because, long charging time decrease the battery life.
We will produce electricity with solar panels that convert the sun’s energy into electricity near roads. Thus our wireless electricity system becomes harmless for the environment. Moreover, solar panels decrease the expenses in long term. Solar panel technology has a big history.
In 18th century, a scientist made the world’s first solar collector. In 19th century, the first solar water heater was made. In 20th century, Soyuz Spacecraft was powered by solar cells. Thanks to the studies and technological improvement US scientists have set a World record in solar cell efficiency in 2008. You may think solar panels won’t be enough for our project but solar panels are constantly developed by scientists. First they were not efficent at all and now they can be used in diffent areas. Who knows what is gonna happen in the future.
In this project our goal is get rid of batteries and cables that makes our lives harder and annoying. So, we developed the idea of wireless electricity stations in everywhere. Thank you for listening, do you have any questions.
