PERSONAL STATEMENT
I’ve always been known to have a wild imagination, as a child i would make up stories to get
my younger siblings to sleep each night it would be a new character, a new setting for the
new plot. My all time hero career-wise would be Linda Woolverton who wrote three of my all
time favourite movies, Beauty and the beast, Alice in wonderland and Maleficent. Her writing
style is mainly based around the Fantasy, Fairytales and comedy-drama’s.
I find that this course appeals to me more because i enjoy reading and writing a lot and i
know that i have many new ideas to imagine and write about, it’s also a job that requires me
to be able to communicate with the team and listen to others input, and i believe i have the
social skills up to the task. This job allows me to work around my favourite genres Fantasy
and Fairytales but at the same time it widens my view on the different other genres out there
that i can gain an interest from or use in addition to my favourite genres.
The media industry is known to be an incredibly competitive industry however i am
determined that i can come out successful as i am known for my perseverance and stubborn
nature to never give up. This course will most definitely allow me to succeed and grasp
opportunities to further my understanding of the way that language in this media text can
influence and inspire people in story telling and the way i write the story it will allow me to
learn what words can best move the audience.
I enjoyed my first year at sixth form already though the fact that most of my courses have a
creative core slightly worried me and made me wonder if i would get the job i desired though
i very much enjoyed each course because it worked well with my passion and imagination ,
they gave me the confidence to speak out and share my opinions and theories on different
views, I took english Literature as an AS and it taught me to analyse each word used and
how it gives or could give a major effect to the piece. English language taught me to pick my
words wisely as it can make or break a scene, the words I use could get the image across
and give it more meaning or they could show a completely different thing from what i
pictured.
I do some extra-Curricular activities such as BUDDY work, it’s a system in place at our
school which allows the younger students to get extra help from the older students such as

2. homework or just a talk. I am the proud buddy to two of these students one an EAL student
and the other just someone who needs help with socialisation.
As soon as the year began and my courses were set out before me (Media & English
Language) i knew that i wanted to go into something to do with writing or a media medium.
In group projects me and my group gained great feedback for our pitches and script work.
I always enjoyed the writing more than the rest of it and this is why i have decided that script
writing is the course i want to study at a University standard, because i enjoy the imagery
that the language used brings to this area of media.
CAREER OBJECTIVE
I am looking to go into the media sector, particularly via the production department. Because
I have the confidence that i can work with others and successfully produce an excellent
piece of work due to the efforts of all the team and myself. I want to be able to study this
subject at a university standard so that this will become a reality.
PERSONAL INTERESTS AND OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
My personal interests include a wide variety of focuses, as I am an adaptable individual. My
main interests and activities include street dance and kickboxing both of which I use to do
frequently and have stopped, I do them now in my free time as a way of keeping fit. I also
love to read and write short stories because i happen to enjoy the way we can escape into
the words we read.
SUMMARY OF SKILLS
Computer Skills:
I have a basic understanding of equipment use and i believe my work is at an intermediate
level i am able to set up equipment and know how to use it to get the best results however
my understanding of the software use is very basic as i am at a beginners level in editing
software.
Languages:
My English language is great seeing as I take both English courses for A-level but I can also
speak Portuguese as well as I speak English and also speak Spanish at an intermediate
level.
Office Skills:
I have good telephone manners i answer in a polite manner and continue in a polite manner
through-out without causing disturbance and to the best of my capability i respond and
answer questions asked by the customer, i have great social skills and am sure that this
would reflect in the manner i speak to potential customers or employers and colleagues.

WORK EXPERIENCE
I volunteered at an elderly home every weekend for a month in year 10 I am able to multi-
task and am confident that i could be independent in case of an emergency or if a problem
occurs. I’ve also have taken care of my siblings most of my life,furthermore to help my dad
out around the house I also did chores and a bit of grocery shopping this has helped me
become humble and gain experience in reading the language used in different settings and
has inspired my writing and made it more relatable. I’ve recently signed up to become a
reader at the local library for the youth this gives me the confidence to speak and i can learn
about different age groups and the type of writing style that identifies with them.

CAREER PLAN
Year 1-3
I intend to go to university where i will take two majors one in media studies and the other in
Creative writing I believe this will give me a better chance at finding and applying for a job in
the near future. I will be focussed mainly on the screenwriting courses or creative media
courses as it will gain me a better understanding on the job I wish to take in the future and
give me a better idea of what genre I prefer as well as experience. And i will find myself
some work experience to do with the subject i’ve chosen in a Media based place like a
library.
Year 4
In this year i want to go onto a gap year so I can gain more experience and a part-time job
as well as travel and look at media and writing based conventions around and in different
places. This is just so I can get a better feel and understanding for the job I want. I could
shadow a screenwriter and gain experience by watching them.
Year 5
I will try to gain a job as a screenwriter or as a screenwriters assistant to begin with and
continue until i am experienced enough to try and get a job as a screenwriter and challenge
myself to write a new story or plot. I will start off with the smaller productions and build up to
writing the larger productions.
