It is a single celled protozoa,consisting of only one cell.
It can change its shape as needed..

Now it belongs to phylum Amoebozoa independently.
They resembles amoeba due to the presence of pseudopodia.
4. DISTRIBUTION
It can grows as a parasite on other creatures.
It can be found in soil.
They may present in shallow water with sluggish flow.

5. CHARACTERISTICS
• Amoeboid protozoans are naked
• They can change their shape whenever they want.
• They use their pseudopodia to capture food.
• They are usually covered in calcareous shells.
• All the free-living amoebae are particle feeders.
• Sexual reproduction is not present in them.
6. SIZE
Amoebozoa comprise a wide variety of amoeboid and flagellate
organisms with single cells measuring from 5 μm to several meters
across.
They have adopted many different life styles and sexual behaviors
and can live in all but the most extreme environments a few
micrometers to 2 mm in diameter.

7. FOOD
• The lobose amoebozoans consume prey (e.g., bacteria, algae,
smaller protists, yeast, etc.) by phagocytosis.
• They eat diet consisting of other protozoa, plant, and animal cells.
8. COMMON EXAMPLES
• ENTAMOEBIDA:
• They lack flagella centrioles and mitochondria.Amebiasis is a disease caused
by the parasite Entamoeba histolytica. It can affect anyone, although it is
more common in people who live in tropical areas with poor sanitary
conditions. Diagnosis can be difficult because other parasites can look very
similar to E. histolytica when seen under a microscope.

• Acanthamoeba is a microscopic, free-living ameba.
• They cause disease NAEGLERIA FOWLERI which infectes cornea of eye.
• They also cause DISEASE ACANTHAMOEBA SPP. Which cause the
inflammation of brain tissues.
