Job Title: Research Associate
Reports to: Director of Operations
The Research Associate of the New Life Thrift INC. shall be hired and annually evaluated by the
Director of Operations and/or the Executive Director. The duties and responsibilities shall be:
EssentialDuties and Responsibilities:
To identify items of higher value and to assess the quality and condition of the item. As the
research associate, it is required that you have the ability to utilize various programs and
websites to investigate the market value of the antique, vintage, and high end products. From
there, you must identify appropriate channels of sale and monitor the incoming interested buyers.
Daily Responsibilities:
Research vintage and antique items in all thrift shop departments. (artwork, home goods,
books, accessories, etc.)
To price items in accordance with market value and thrift shop benchmarks. Consulting
with specialists may be necessary.
Identify alternative methods of sale for items out the thrift range. (Auction, silent auction)
To develop relationships with research specialists so that we can forward various items
on to them for accurate research (baseball cards, stamps, instruments, etc.)
To keep up with and monitor eBay, Etsy, and Craiglist posts.
To continuously study research methods and build knowledge base.
To place the researched items deemed necessary for sale in the thrift shop in their
appropriate place. (behind the jewelry counter or in display case at the register).
Qualifications:
Must be knowledgeable of the antique/vintage market and values.
Must have interpersonal skills in order to develop relationships with research specialists.
Must be thorough and detail oriented.
Must be able to identify valuable items on floor.
Must be able to work in an organized and efficient manner.
