1. BACHELOR’S HUB
TITLE: Instilling success perception in secondary learners.
Mission
To make a foreign language a home language, in order to maximise the bachelor’s pass rate
in Grade 12, thus, enabling them to meet University’s admission requirements of their
choice. Eradicating perceptions of negative attitudes and low-performance held by learners
of which contributes to them to achieving lower, and instilling the perception that intelligence
is socially learned.
Vision
Understanding of English leads to Excellency, as the majority of academic books and
subjects are written and taught in English of which is foreign to African children and difficult
to rural learners.
Our government perceive Mathematics and Science as difficult whereas the difficulty lies
within the literacy. How can a learner master the difficult terms of Mathematics and Sciences
while failing in mastering simple terms behind literacy (English)? Through community
mentoring after school hours will enable learners to master English which will enhance them
in applying their understanding in Mathematics and Science.
Establishing competition of school debates, essay writings, reading of short stories and
novels thereafter analysing them can be key factors in determining how well a person can
articulate a foreign language and giving learners a chance to develop a desire and passion
for social activities that will benefit them in the academic field.
Strengthening the relationship between learners and teachers by requesting teachers to
allocate extra home works, projects and assignments to the interested and willing learners
who join the Bachelor’s Hub, will lead to excellency of learners as they will be able to identify
their strengths and weaknesses. The difference between Bachelor’s Hub and Adult Basic
Education (ABET) is that Bachelor’s Hub targets leaners who are currently at high school
and ABET targets those who have lost the academic battle and illiterate community
members.
