proposed

of the non-involvement of Nepalese construction industry
in the bidding document.

completing the project to the Nepal Army(NA)
Feasibility Study
❖ Initial feasibility study by ADB(Asian Development Bank) in
2008
❖ Invitation was sent to private sector under BOOT model
❖ ADB suggested further suggestions and pointed out the
shortcomings
❖ World bank appointed consultant , CASTELLIA, to review
and make suggestion to facilitate PPP process
Technical Specifications
❖ Design Speed:
➢ Plain region- 120 Km/hr
➢ Hill region-65 Km/hr
➢ Total travel time for Kathmandu-Nijgadh Sector- 59
minutes
❖ Longitudinal Grade(Slope):
➢ Maximum -4% in Plain and Rolling
➢ Maximum - 5% in Mountain and Steep Mountain
Cost Estimation
Role of Nepal Army(NA)
❖ NA has history of constructing roads in difficult terrain
under tight budget constraints
❖ Has constructed Karnali Highway.
❖ The road will have 99 bridges, 160 culverts and one 1.356
km long tunnel
❖ NA has shown commitment to finish the project in 4
years(within 2021)
Conclusion
The fast-track that passes through Lalitpur and Makwanpur
before reaching Ratanpuri of Bara district is expected to
connect Kathmandu with the Terai not only physically but
also culturally and mentally.
➔ People from Kathmandu can travel to Terai in just an
hour, something amazing if you know current scenario.
Vehicles can travel up to 120 km per hour, which is not
seen before in our country.
➔ People from Madhesh/Terai will have easy reach to
capital which may help to reduce socio-political issues
with Kathmandu too.
