Sebuah Pengantar
Desain secara Umum
• Desain akan lebih bermakna apabila dapat
digunakan untuk menyelesaikan masalah-
masalah yang lebih luas baik masalah secara
pribadi maupun masyarakat luas.
• Masalah tersebut mencakup masalah yang
bersifat kultural atau sosial, menciptakan
pemahaman antar kelompok yang berbeda,
atau etika dalam membuat keputusan.
Desain sebagai Disiplin Ilmu
• Desain adalah disiplin ilmu yang tidak hanya
mencakup eksplorasi visual, tetapi terkait pula
dengan mencakup aspek kultural, sosial,
filosofis, teknis dan bisnis.
• Aktivitas desain merupakan proses
pemecahan masalah, metode kreativitas dan
evaluasi bentuk interdisiplin dengan bidang
lain.
Fungsi DKV
• To inform  menjelaskan, menerangkan dan
mengenalkan.
• To enlighten  menyadarkan dan
menguraikan.
• To persuade  menganjurkan (periklanan),
komponennya: kepercayaan, logika dan daya
tarik.
• To protect  fungsi khusus (desain kemasan
produk)
Komunikasi
• Komunikasi adalah suatu proses pengiriman
dan penerimaan pesan yang terjadi antara dua
pihak.
• Komunikasi adalah suatu proses pertukaran
informasi atau pesan diantara dua orang atau
lebih melalui suatu sistem tanda, simbol,
isyarat dan perilaku yang sudah lazim.
