“I praise thee, for I am fearfully & wonderfully made.” Psalms 139:14
From The Executive Director
The need to provide housing for the homeless of
our community is very great. At this time we are
just slammed. We have 16 ladies in the beds and 1
sleeping on the couch and it is not very cold yet!
There are so many needs; it is a privilege for us to
be able to serve our homeless women, however we
do need your help. Any donation that you can give
at this time would definitely be appreciated.
We thank you for your kindness.
Very truly yours,
Dorothy Stima

Lynn Anderson’s Testimony
My name is Lynn A. Knox-Anderson. On September 3rd, 2008 at 4:00
a.m., I walked out of the forest leaving my boyfriend. I was very sick
with a kidney infection and a broken right thumb done by the man
who said he loved me. At a house, some people called the police and
an ambulance came. I was taken to the hospital. They put me in a
crisis bed. Six days later, I arrived at the Monroe Gospel Women’s
Mission. To be honest, I don't even remember the first four weeks.
I cried a lot over my boyfriend and the fact that we had turned from
God to a pagan religion. Through the mission I got the love, support
and counseling I needed. I didn't walk those six miles-Jesus carried
me out of the forest. If it was not for the staff at the mission and the
other ladies there I truly believe I would have killed myself. I was
mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually bankrupt.
I’m now back with the Lord, the one and only true God. I am very
grateful to Dorothy, Joanna, Rosalie, and Christine, my new found
friends for their guidance love and support.
Every four seconds a woman is beaten. She only gets flowers at her
grave site. If you are in an abusive relationship. Get out now! There
is help out there. I will forever be indebted to the Monroe Gospel
Women’s Mission and the wonderful women who run it. With all my
heart, I am sincerely grateful and love them all at the Monroe Gospel
Women Mission.
Sincerely,
Lynn Knox-Anderson

2. Tiffany Marie Allen’s Testimony
Before coming to the Monroe Gospel Mission my life was
deteriorating. As a child I had a very dysfunctional family.
My mother had been in prison for three years as a result of
her drug addiction and my father died when I was 16 from
cirrhosis of the liver. All of my siblings had been adopted out
except my younger brother Timothy who lives with my grand-
parents. After my father passed away, I began using meth
with my mother. During that time, I dropped out of high
school, became involved in an abusive relationship, lived in
cars, tents and sometimes on peoples couches. Before coming
to the mission I was living under a bridge with a sleeping bag.
In and out of hospitals and institutions for the insane. I had
lost all self respect and had no concept of who God really is.
Life was a dead end. I had no dreams.
Somehow I ended up at the Monroe Gospel Women's Mission.
When I arrived all of my basic needs were met right away.
I was able to take a shower, get clean clothes and have a
good meal. I felt safe. After a month of living at the mission,
I began to gain my sanity and checked myself into a
treatment center. I went to Yakima for thirty days and
returned to the mission. Soon after I learned to accept and
respect authority. Through them I gained structure and
routine which helped me maintain a healthy life. I have
received guidance in many areas of my life. Through individ-
ual counseling and daily devotions I have come to know God
and am daily building my relationship with God. I have been
able to be in recovery for over nine months and have been
enrolled back in high school. I am learning techniques of
independency-cooking, cleaning, hygiene and scheduling.
I attend many self help classes that the mission offers and
I have built real friendships which I have never experienced
before. I have been able to explore different interests and
talents and have been recently employed as a babysitter. In
the past few months, my relationships with my grandparents
and my brother Timothy have become stronger and recently,
I was able to help sponsor my brother’s baseball team.
Now, life seems full of possibilities and I am remembering the
dreams I once had. My next goal is to graduate from high
school. After graduating, I hope to be able to fully support
myself financially. I plan to attend college to help other
people with chemical dependencies. Thanks to the mission
I now have a very clear perspective of the direction I want my
life to go. Because of everything this mission has done for me
sand others I hope to give back to this place someday. I love
this place. I want to thank each staff member-Dorothy,
Joanna and Rosalie-for making this mission possible and for
giving hope when my life seemed hopeless. I jokingly tell the
staff that I love the mission so much that I want to live here
forever!
A Letter of Thanks From A Former Resident!
Dear Dorothy, Please use the enclosed for whatever purpose
you choose. Blessings to you and all you hold close to your
heart. You took me in when I had NOWHERE to go. I called
Feb. 2006 and Judy said when I asked “well yes we have an
opening” and you took me in. Someday in God’s time I would
send you a donation, and God’s time is now, so here it is.
Love Cindy. “The Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and
protect you.” 2 Thessalonians 3:3
The Monroe Gospel Women’s Mission is a family of
people who really care about those who are less fortunate
-- and who also roll up their sleeves to see that the work
of caring for these women actually happens.
Our ‘family’ is made up of a hard-working Board of
Directors who give many volunteer hours each month to
the policies, procedures, and spiritual conformance of the
Mission's operations.
Our family is blessed with donors who give of their time,
goods, and funds to allow this non profit organization to
carry out our work 24 hours each day and seven days each
week.
Staff and volunteers have different backgrounds and vary
in talent and profession, yet are bound by the thread of
compassion and love for the goal of the Mission.
We would love to have you join our family in any way your
heart may lead you whether it’s a monetary donation or
the gift of your time.
There are many ways that you can help us feed, clothe,
and assist these ladies as they strive to gain the skills and
self-confidence needed to become independent.
