1. BIOGRAPHY MIKE ELM PHOTOARTIST
Firstly all of my adult life Art and Photography have played a major part both being a
passion and for some time an ambition to make it my living.
To conjoin both of these passions into one obsession has made good and difficult
times easier to accept.
On leaving education I took an apprenticeship at Royal Worcester Porcelain and took
the step into becoming a Ceramic Artist. This lasted for some 9 years in what was the
glory years for that company in the early 1970's.
This was not to last and following an introduction into the works of W Clement-Stone
a famous American personal development and self help guru my world changed.
I fought hard to become something in Marketing and Sales and over the next couple
of decades made a good living for myself and my family. I had several senior
management positions in some blue chip companies and travelled throughout Europe.
Eureka
At the age when most people are looking for peace, stability and tranquillity I made
my second gigantic decision and became self employed. I set up an agency selling
leisure garden furniture and decoration to trade sellers around the UK and Ireland.
Life Changing
Some 5 years following this momentous change in direction I was struck down with
Throat Carcinoma (Throat Cancer) and under went major surgery and intensive
Radiotherapy.
And now
Here I am 3 years later and I'm still here back to something like myself. I have some
problems eating and swallowing and dryness of the mouth and throat but hey.
My passion for Art and Photography never faltered and I am determined in this
Autumn of my life to create and share images to inspire and excite. I now consider
myself to be an Artographer (great title) someone who uses his own photographic
image and creates Art to inspire and provoke wonderment.
