1) God created humans with intellect and free will, allowing them to choose between obedience and disobedience, good and evil. This gives humans the ability to learn and experience in a way angels cannot. 2) Angels were created only to obey and serve God without choice, while humans can choose to submit to God or not. Being able to choose submission makes humans the best of God's creations. 3) God created different types of beings - humans, angels, animals, jinn, Satan - each with their own nature and role. As the creator, God is not affected by the choices of his creations. Humans alone were given intellect and free will.

1.0 JEFFREY LANG: THE PURPOSE OF LIFE
1.1 Summary
The speaker is Jeffrey Lang, an American native, he is not an inborn Muslim. He had a
bad childhood experience, where he has an angelic mother, whom beloved by people and
neighbours, was warm and a decent believer. However, his father was tremendously a rampant
guy, whom often got drunk, and going violent when booze. During that time, Jeffrey was still
a little child and he has no strength nor power to stop the violence; where he always cannot
protect her mother from being abused by the father but just to pretend not knowing. To stop
the abuse, he often praying so God could steer away his father from the world. Coincidentally,
there was a war going on during the days, and Jeffrey questioned the presence of God since
there are many violence occurred, and why not God don’t create a better peace world but make
this world full of harm and violence?
One day Jeffrey read the Quran which was his friend’s. Unexpectedly he found out that
the Quran had quite a provocative expression, where he thought that the narrator of the Book
had quite a large number of messages, even before he thinks that the narrator had quite
confusing understanding of mankind.
1.2 Review
I am going to take one point of the talk where I think it was the most prevalent point.
Jeffrey had questioned the purpose of God creating violence, disruption and corruption when
He can actually create peace, making human creation as angelic as the Angel, so the world
should be in harmony.
But from the Surah Al-Baqarah, Jeffrey learnt that human is a learning creation. Human
got a collective learning from history, experience and language. Adam is an example of
learning creature, but Angel doesn’t. Adam was taught the name of things and he can rename
it when being asked, but the Angel had not posses such knowledge. That story reflects that
Angel wasn’t created for learning and understanding things, but Adam (a representative of
human creature) could learn.
Jeffrey used to question why human wasn’t being programmed like Angel where they
only do goods but why human could also do evil? The reason behind that was the intellect. God
had given Adam intellect but not to the Angel.

Intellect was created so human could make choice. Choice represents a free-will. This
meant that God give human freedom to live, to do things, to experience things, unlike the Angel
that was programmed to do good deeds, non-stop serve our God. They don’t have the freedom
of choice, and free-will like mankind. Since human have the power of choice, it was the reason
why human need to suffer, because suffering give experience to human, understands moral and
making choice of what he was going to do.

Hence, the reason why Jeffrey had suffered during his childhood is to nurture his
morality, through his pain experience that will change his behaviour and action. This might be
God wisdom and say that if he don’t experience such bad childhood days, he might not being
good human and find the truth.
So that was his definition of purpose of life; is for experiencing. To make man choice.
To be judged in the hereafter.

2.0 ZAKIR NAIK: WHY DID GOD (ALLAH) CREATES HUMAN?
This video tries to answer of why Allah creates human, why he makes some human to
go to the hell and some will go to the heaven? Why He just not direct all human being to the
heaven? Why God so sadist by making human being like that?
This video somehow like a continuation of Jeffrey’s questions. It was not that God did
not create a perfect being that will for sure obey him and do not doing destruction, but he
already creates Angel. However, He also wants to create the other being which is human, whom
has distinct feature with Angel. If Angel is a perfect in nature where they will never doing harm,
all the entirely live is for worshipping Allah, then Allah creates human which have the option
to do by his own will and can direct their self where to go; to worship or not worship Allah.
Zakir Naik clarify that in what sense is that Quran implies that human being is the best creation
and was better than the Angel is due to the free-will as the grace from God, that if Angel is
obedient by the programmed system, human is a better creation when he submitted to Allah by
choice. Human intellect functions to choose the good path and submit to Allah by wills, not by
a programmed nature.
Allah doesn’t make Human and Angel alone in this world; they are different creature
like Satan, animal, natures (plants, water, air, river, wood and etc), and Jinn or some other
creature that are beyond our knowledge; but here’s the main reason; that Allah can creates all
kind of creation he wishes; either that have no option but to submit to him, either man that have
an option to submit or not, either Satan that choose not to submit to him to all, either animal
that submit to him but not being rewards, or Jinn that no intellect but being punishes and
rewards – that He has not affected by any of His creation either which kind of the creation he
creates, wither they are submit to Him or not, His power not reduced nor increased because He
was already transcendental. He wasn’t being sadist but human itself was fool if he wasn’t
choosing to submit to God even God has not affected by man actions. God doesn’t torture
human to bring them to hell but man itself that misguided and choose to go there, as being
stated before due to their own free-will.

The audience then asked Dr. Zakir Naik regarding why human should be amazed by
creation of God if He already can do anything in a blink of eyes but then why He should be
proud of his creation and show-off to mankind those things are He the one whom created it?
The answer is that to us (human) realize that we are the best creation, and all things
God creates was to serve human being, and we should pay a gratitude to Allah for all the grants
he creates to us. Allah creates all of things for human because he states that human is the best
creation and we should be amazed that He creates all things for us and that was the reason why
we should submit to Allah for all those bounties He gave; and He doesn’t be show-off, he just
gives everything to mankind.
