and non-verbal) and making speeches for a variety of
public forums. Major emphasis is placed on verbal and
non-verbal communication along with speech preparation

7. COMMON ASSESSMENTS:
At the end of every two weeks, there will be a common
assessment (test) that all students will take to determine
mastery of objectives taught during that period.
CHEATING: ……………………………
Cheating is strictly prohibited in my class. Students
suspected of cheating on tests and assignments will
receive a ZERO (0)
ABSENCES/DISMISSALS: Daily attendance to this
class is MANDATORY!!! In the event of an absence, all
assignments and tests must be made-up.
It is the student’s responsibility to set up a time to
make-up tests.
8. ASSIGNMENT HEADINGS: To head a
written assignment, the students should place
their name, the date, and the class block on
the right-hand side of the paper. On the left
side, the student is the write the name of the
assignment and the page number if
applicable.

ENTERING THE CLASSROOM: Students should enter the
classroom in an orderly manner, sit at their respective area,
and immediately begin the Do Now activity and copying the
Word of the Day.
MORNING/AFTERNOON ANNOUNCEMENTS: There is to be
absolutely NO talking during morning or afternoon
announcements or at anytime someone is speaking on the
intercom.
AWAITING THE TEACHER’S ARRIVAL: In an instance where
the teacher has not arrived in the classroom, students are to
wait in a single file line on the right side of the classroom by the
door. There should be no talking or horse playing while waiting
for the teacher’s arrival.
CLASS PARTICIPATION/RESPONDING IN CLASS: Unless
instructed otherwise, students should raise their hand and wait
to be recognized before responding to a question or if they
would like to ask a question.

SMALL GROUPS/LEARNING CENTERS:
There will be several times throughout the year where
students will be working in collaborative groups.
MOVING AROUND THE CLASSROOM:
Unless instructed otherwise, all students are to remain
in their seats.
AFTER COMPLETION OF ASSIGNMENTS:
Once all class assignments or tests are completed,
students may begin working on their homework
assignment, read, or complete a make-up assignment.
RESTROOM:
Students should use the restroom between classes.
However, in the case of an emergency, students should
raise their hand to indicate they need to use the
restroom.

ASSEMBLIES:
Students will line up in a single file line and walk to the
right side of the hall to the location of the assembly.
While in the hall, students are not to talk, disturb other
classes or to get out of line for any reason. We will sit
as a class unless instructed to do otherwise. Students
will exit the assembly as instructed by the
administration.
END OF THE DAY/DISMISSAL PROCEDURES:
When the bell rings, remain seated until I give you the
cue to go. The bell does not dismiss you, I DO!
12. CONSEQUENCES
FIRST TIME: Warning.
SECOND TIME: After-school detention,
Contact your parent(s), and Complete
behavior plan.
THIRD TIME: After-School detention,
Conference with your parent(s) and
counselor, and complete second behavior
plan.
FOURTH TIME: Write-up and Referral to
the office.
SEVERE DISRUPTION/BEHAVIOR:
Student sent immediately to the office and
parents are called.
