The society is completely controlled and made up of five
different sect/jobs which are called factions in this movie.
The government can see your thoughts through different serums
and also can control your brain.
There are a few select people in this society called “divergents”
who have minds that cannot be controllled and they are in danger
for their lives if the Government finds. them.

5. With all of Tris's characteristics she also
faces many challenges being a part of
divergent since she is a petite girl who has
many physical obstacles being a part of this
faction with all their physical duties and
ways they have to prove themselves. She
has to train her body extremely hard to
prove her place in Dauntless. All of this
shows what a determined person she is
which is part of what makes her a hero. Her
will to keep going and never give up.

into the unknown and changes her
name to Tris.
8. Mentor: Tobias(Four)
From the moment Tris jumps down to
Dauntless Tobias is the one who helps her off
the net and then helps her during her training
to ensure she doesn’t get kicked out of
Dauntless and become factionless. Tris and
him build a love connection and they find they
are both divergents who cannot be controlled.
They go up against the lady in charge of their
world to save everyone from mind control.
9. Enemy/Ordeal/Test
Jeanie Matthews
She is the main evil-doer in this movie and is the
sole power against abnegation and taking over the
world as they know it. She has an extremely high
intelligence and knows how to control the population
and wants to rid it of those divergent that she cannot
control first and foremost. The movie ended with
them going up against her and escaping the city they
live in not knowing what lies ahead.
10. The Warning
The author of the Divergent series is stressing the importance of people staying
aware of the powers that be and not always just going along with what they say to
do or what is true. This futuristic world they live in actually has so much control
they can read your mind and all your thoughts. This is a very scary extreme of what
can happen if people stop questioning the powers that be. This story also shows
how people are secluded and segregated from other groups in order to create a
fake peace where like-minded people are all together in their faction. This makes its
easy to control the society as a whole and hinder individuality and power in
numbers questioning or fighting against the elites. The majority of people just act
as sheep in this movie going along with what they are told to do. It is the divergent
who question and stand up for what they personally believe and know as right and
true for the good of all, heroes
11. Real world similiaritiesMany people through out history have been segregated by governments and others in power to create
different classes as well as socioeconomic gaps. Also throughout history there has been corruption in the
government for power and control these are all things we still need to remain aware of in our current
realities. There are homeless people who resemble the factionless in the movie because they don’t have a
place, we need to stand up for humanity and take charge in protecting our species. Some take the
American Dream as a way to make people leave there home, go to college, get married, and have kids as
a means to control peoples lives as well. This is not what everyone wants to do and people shouldn't feel
pressured by norms to make their lives play out in this order.
