We were asked in Interaction Design class to pick something within our department and turn it into an interactive interface. Physical o They are part of the walls in the hall way (architectural) o Vertical big screens attached together with very thin frames o Use it whilst standing o Palm touch for 3 seconds to open Virtual Milly o Touch screen to click on the desired options if needed o Swiping up or down acts like a scroll bar and you can even move elements around

Temporal o Not dependant on specific times o Can be accessed at any time during the day (Even when the main Info Points are closed by 5pm and weekends, IP Walls are available) o Design Role: Screen will be playing different themes accompanied by smooth sound effects according to the season (Example – Christmas trees and snowmen will be screening and some jingle-bell sounds during Christmas time or nature environments with nature sounds)

- As you are walking from lesson to lesson, it is very easy to PASS BY one of our IP Walls as they are part of the actual wall in the hall ways. Found in every single Block and every single floor. If you want to use it all you have to do is actually place your palm on it and after 3 seconds the screen will gradually go on and you will be facing our Virtual Assistant who can ask all of your university related questions (just like the normal InfoPoints, but better). Our Virtual Assistant who will be helping you is called Milly If you want to check your Timetable and all those other things, then you just scan your UWE ID and you will be given these options on the screen. You can navigate easily through them on the touch screen. Lastly, IP Walls can act as a mood changer and create different environments by screening different themes for different occasions. For example, it could be screening nature environments or at the halloween days it should have a more fun approach. This way, students’ mood will be light up having to experience different environments every day.

Need to stand to use it, cannot sit in the middle of the corridor. Palm touch for 3 seconds and Virtual Milly appears. Touch screen. Swiping available to move things around or scroll up and down.
- BENEFITS Quick and easy to access Saves a lof of space Can be access by people with disabilities User Friendly – Clear and has a touch screen Improves the physical environment Creates themes and atmospheres that can help improve people’s mood and boredom LIMITATIONS The biggest limitation is ofc THE COST for this project. It would need expensive resources (hardware), research and development of software and how it is built onto the wall. If many people are using it at the same time, it can cause traffic in narrow hallways, because people will be standing in the middle of the road. (This is why you cannot access your account and do complex long activities on this interface) If a student is speaking to the Virtual Assistant of the IP Wall and there is background noise from people passing by, then he may have to listen to the instructions/advice again. This could be added into the costs as well. Having more software, you need to use a lot of space on the UWE Server. People who pass by can actually see what you are doing or asking, it lacks some privacy. But again, you would not use it for some very private purpose, but only for things like checking ur timetable, booking student advisor appointments, booking study group rooms and asking quick questions.
