EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
BACKGROUND. The Intercultural Leadership Development Practicum is a partnership between American University and
PYXERA Global. Through this effort, the AU Practicum students (“project team”) developed the framework for a
longitudinal study on the impact of PYXERA Global’s Global Pro Bono program on participants’ leadership development
and PYXERA’s corporate partners.
PROCESS. The project team conducted this assignment in two phases: In phase one of the project, the team researched
and compiled an in-depth analysis on intercultural leadership development and methodologies for measuring outcomes
through relevant academic literature. For phase two, the project team identified five core leadership competencies and
created a framework to assess the development of leadership skills gained from the Global Pro Bono program.
DELIVERABLES. The project team introduced five leadership competencies and a methodological framework of
evaluation for PYXERA Global’s consideration. Furthermore, the project team concluded that a theory of change logic
model is necessary for effectively assessing the leadership development of the participants and the ultimate value of the
Global Pro Bono program. These ideas are presented in the following deliverables:
