Senior Band Rehearsal

  • 1. Senior  Band  Observation  –  4/19     Materials:  Instruments,  music,  pencil,  folder     Objectives:  Review  a  previously  rehearsed  section,  transition  in  and  out  of   previously  reviewed  section  (while  observing  changes  in  time  and  key  signature),   play  through  a  new  section  in  another  piece  (working  on  rhythm  and  observing  new   key  signature)     Procedure:   1. Warmup/Treasury   a. Concert  F  scale  round  counting  off  by  3  (4  beats  per  note)   b. Treasury  #13  (percussion  on  mallets)  with  12/8  exercise   2. Grease   a. Review  measures  125-­‐145   i. Check  flute/clarinet/horn/trombone  parts  at  137   b. Check  transition  out  of  12/8  into  4/4  with  clarinets   c. Transition  into  new  section  –  look  at  trombone,  horn,  bari,  tenor,  bass   clarinet  and  clarinet  1  for  new  tempo   i. Play  just  into  key  change   d. rehearse  transition  (measures  123  and  124)   i. cue  each  entrance   ii. make  sure  flute  triplets  are  accurate   e. back  up  to  measure  120  to  work  on  transition   f. back  up  to  measure  113  –  play  113-­‐end  (focusing  most  on  transition   spots  just  worked  on)   3.
