1. Spider Diagram
For Gender Disparity Analysis
Objective: To analyse gender disparity on key gender aspects in a community
Process:
 Ask issue wise (access, control……Inheritance rights, Violence) situation of the female and
male in the community to the community people participating in the discussion and point
them out on the respective line using different colour for female and male
 Once all are pointed out, intersect each point to other point separately for male and female
 After drawing the situation, ask why the situation is like this, how they want to solve it, etc.
and take notes

2. Here,
Access includes, but not limited to:
- Access to balance food
- Access to education
- Access to public services
- Access to market places, etc.
Participation includes, but not limited to:
- Participation in decision making process
- Participation in development work
- Participation in community festivals, etc.
Freedom of Mobility includes, but not limited to:
- Freedom of mobility to community
- Freedom of mobility to work field
- Freedom of mobility to neighbours and relatives homes, etc.
Control includes, but not limited to:
- Control over income
- Control over assets
- Control over body, etc.
Property Rights include, but not limited to:
- Inheritance rights
- Husband’s property rights, etc.
Victim of Violence includes, but not limited to:
- Domestic violence
- Community Violence
- Violence at work places, etc.
Note: This is just an example. You can include more gender aspects while assessing gender disparity
in any community.
