This document provides an overview of a hospital management system project. It discusses that hospital management systems automate administrative and operational processes like patient registration and scheduling. The purpose of this project is to automate the manual handling of hospital records, which is time-consuming and error-prone. An iterative development methodology is used, with features added in cycles of design, coding, testing and risk management. The system aims to provide a paperless hospital environment and track activities to improve operations. It will benefit administrators, healthcare professionals and patients.
3. WHAT IS HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
Hospital management systems (HMS) are software applications designed to automate the
administrative and operational processes within a healthcare facility.
These systems are used to manage various aspects of hospital operations,
including:
patient registration
appointment scheduling
electronic medical records (EMR),
4. PROBLEM STATEMENT
The manual handling of records in hospitals today is time
consuming and highly prone to error. The purpose of this
project is to automate or make online, the process of day-to-
day activities like Room activities, Admission of New Patient,
Discharge of Patient, assign a Doctor, and finally compute
the bill etc. I have tried my best to make the complicated
process Hospital Management System as simple as possible
using Structured & Modular technique & Menu oriented
interface.
5. STUDY OBJECTIVES
To build a system that will
provide a paper-less
hospital up to 90%.
To keep track of its day-to-
day activities and records of
patients, doctors, nurses and
staff personal to make
hospitals run smoothly and
successfully.
Provide excellent low-
cost reliable
automation of the
existing systems.
6. METHODOLOGY
iterative model is a process of development in a cyclic manner repeating every step
after every cycle of SDLC process. When I developed, I take into consideration by
following all the steps, then on every iteration more features and modules are
designed, coded, tested and added to the software. After each iteration I work on risk
management and prepare for the next iteration.
I USED ITERATIVE MODEL FOR THIS PROJECT DESIGN:
7. TARGETED AUDIENCE
The target audience for this system includes:
Hospital administrators and managers
Healthcare professionals
Patients
10. CONCLUSION
improved patient care.
Increased efficiency
Reduced costs and improved compliance.
Hospital management systems provide a number of benefits to hospitals.
These benefits include:
