2. Frame 1
This is the logo of the metro Goldwyn
Mayer film company. With its black
ground so far it doesn’t give aby
information about the film away yet.
But because
the
background is
black it could
suggest that
the film
contain jump
scares to catch
the audience
out. And could
be quite
jumpy.
This logo is
shown at the
beginning of
the film to
create
tension
before it has
started.
Mgm is such a huge production
company you already know a lot of
money has been put into the film
before it has even started. Giving the
audience something to expect.
3. Frame 2
It looks like here that the camera has
panned across what looks like a body of
water which could suggest droning of lost
at sea.
Now the name
of the film is
shown gives
you an idea of
what the film
may be about
it keeps the
audience
guessing of
what the film
ids going to be
about.
I also think that maybe the light reflecting of the water could
portray something about our main character. That maybe the
film is about him reflecting back on things he had done in the
past.
4. Frame 3
This is the first shot we get at the
beginning of the film. So this shot will
alr4eady be making the audience ask
questions. I like how
the film
company
has used fire
as the first
shot
because I
think it
could strike
fear into the
audience at
a very early
stage of the
film.
The fire could also be a metaphor for that
the film is just getting started or warming
up.
5. Frame 4
This is the first look we have at one of the
characters in the film taken at hip level even
though he is the first character we see It doesn't
main he is going to be the main character in the
film.
You can see with the line of fire that this
character has maybe lost the will to live
and commit suicide by lighting the place
on fire.
He looks
quite
beaten up
so this could
suggest that
this
character
has been
though a lot
which the
audience
hasn’t seen.
6. Frame 5
This is a very interesting shot it
has been taken at the eye level
of the character sitting on the
floor.
The character in the black coat with the gun
doesn’t want the character on the floor to kill
himself because he wants to do it himself which
could suggest that he is being paid to kill this
character.
The gun also
helps you
establish
which genre
of film the
audience is
watching. in
this example
it is a
thriller.
7. Frame 6
Frame 6 is of the character in the black
coat leaving but as he leaves he
relights the oil trail maybe to cover his
own tracks.
The fire could resemble heat and
tension with some of the characters
and it could resemble violence which
could be contained in the film.
Also with fire
and flames
coming up
quite often
could mean
that fire is a
reoccurring
theme.
8. Frame 7
This frame has given us an idea of were
the film is going to set we can see a boat
so maybe it could be set in a city with a
port.
The dark lighting could suggest that the
film could have quite a dark nature and
feel to it that maybe some evil could
appear.
9. Frame 8
Frame 8 gives us even more
flames and explosions.
This enforces the fact that the theme of fire
and heat could keep coming up later in the
film
I also think the
black backdrop
put things into
perspective for
the audience
this explosion
isn't happening
in the middle
of the day it’s
at night the
character with
the black coat
can get away.
10. Frame 9
This shot keep coming up so this
could be significant to the plot of
the film.
Maybe because the ropes and other
objects are tangled up. This could
possibly suggest the plot of the film
is also going to be twisted and
tangled.
