Target Audience
For our Media product

2. Why is the audience important
to media producers?
The audience is one of the most important
things that media producers focus on, simply
because the audience shall be your main
source of income and profit. It is essential that
you work out what your target audience hall be
so you know what to build your media around.
A good way that we figured out our target
audience was by using the Pearl and Dean
website to see what sort of age groups and
gender of people there were that were the most
intrigued when it came to Thriller and Horror
style movies.
Not only that, but we also interviewed a few 1619 year old students for feedback on our trailer
to see if they were interested or not.

3. Pearl and Dean Research
Here is a screenshot for the statistics for the Thriller movie ‘American Hustle’, the
reason this was selected was because this movie is similar to ours so it was a
good idea to base our audience off of these statistics.
Now, this table shows that the main audience for ‘American Hustle’ was 15-24 year
olds with the majority being 82% being Males as well.
Our movie is similar yet different
in many ways so we plan on
focusing our short movie ‘Death
Entices Us’ towards 15-24 year
olds but we plan on balancing
out both males and females that
shall want to see this movie.

4. Our Own Feedback
We showed a few people the trailer for our short
movie and then proceeded to interview them to see
what their views and opinions were on the initial
trailer and also whether or not they would watch it if it
was in the cinema.
This was good research into our target audience as it
allowed us to get a range of diverse opinions from 1619 year old students which helped us narrow down
what our target audience would be.

5. Ideal Audience member
Our ideal audience member would be a male
or female 16-21 year old who enjoys listening
to rock and/or heavy metal music, they would
generally wear black, dark or leather clothing
and would have a sort of punkish attitude
about them, they would tend to drink or smoke
and may have a few piercings.
They wouldn’t really listen to the radio and
they would enjoy movies such as Scream,
American Hustle and Saw. If our movie was
played at the local cinema then this may
appeal to them.
