6. BACKGROUND OF THE
STUDY
Flood events are part of nature which is
caused by natural and human activities such
as heavy rainfall, deforestation, poor farming,
clogging of canals and population pressure.
Bongolan et al.(2010) stated that 80% of
Metro Manila was covered in waters during
rainy seasons.
Flood alarms are used to detect the level
of water during rainy seasons.
7. SIGNIFICANCE/ RATIONALE
• Flood-prone Areas. To give signals that will alert
the civilians to be prepared if ever the location
needs an evacuation.
• Schools. To determine if the flood level has the
possibility to become risky and to raise the
awareness of the students and school staff that a
class suspension will be likely to happen.
• Future Researchers. To give basis and idea for the
future researchers to be able to develop and make
use of the information for better innovation.
8. PROBLEM STATEMENT
PROJECT IFIS is expected to detect an
increase level of flood in a certain area. Thus,
this study aims:
• To determine how far the sound of the alarm
will reach
• To test the functionality of the device
• To compare the Improvised Flood Indicator
System to the Prototype Flood Alarm
10. RESEARCH OUTCOME
• Comparison of the Improvised Flood Indicator
System to the Prototype Flood Alarm
• Development of the Improvised Flood
Indicator System
• Functionality of the Improvised Flood
Indicator System
