Justification for the choice of the company
Being aware that business plays a distinct and vital role in helping to solve important social and
environmental issues, KPMG is one the companies where CSR is embedded into corporate
culture.
Multiple initiatives, conducted in the countries where KPMG is currently operating (and with 154
locations it means all around the world), range from volunteerism to philanthropy and
corporate giving to its relationships with non-profits. The scope of activities of the organization
reflects its commitment to youth, education, health and the environment and advocates social
improvement.
However, when speaking about a company going global, it seems pertinent to ask ourselves:
what can the company do to stay locally responsive and make an impact on a smaller scale?
How can it create a lasting change for local communities?
Therefore, in this paper we consider KPMG’s CSR performance in Belarus and develop a
strategy for further improvement.

Forest week.
Every year KPMG
employees
participate in forest
planting within the
framework of the
Republican
campaign "Forest
Week".
Every New Year’s
Eve KPMG
employees buy gifts
and together with
Santa Claus and
Snow Maiden visit
children who are
under the care of
the Belarusian
children's hospice.
Cycle for Water.
KPMG has supported
the Cycle for Water
humanitarian project,
which aims to draw
attention to the
protection of drinking
water sources. The aim
of the project is also to
develop innovative
solutions to ensure
access to water
resources.
CONCLUSIONS
Corporate responsibility is central
to the culture and values of KPMG
in Belarus.
The company strictly follows the
principles of ethical behavior,
environmental protection, as well
as the principles of creating
positive relationships with society.

and more detailed CSR strategy.

initiatives that are aimed at:
 Advancing Sustainability,
 Community contributions
 and Available Learning.
The aims and objectives within the CSR strategy:
To reduce any damaging effects on the
environment from the own operations
To engage employees and stakeholders in the
community to bring about systematic change that
addresses environmental and social issues
To develop the own potential as well as that of
others and help cultivate future successful leaders
1. ENVIRONMENT
Advancing

To reduce energy
usage a company
should focus on four
key areas:
a) Lighting
b) Office equipment
c) Heating
d) Cooling
Celebrating green
birthdays.
Birthdays of KPMG ‘s
employees are
always special and
it’s easy to make
them even more
memorable by
planting five
saplings on their
behalf.
Organisation of
competitions.
It’s a good idea to
encourage employees
to take additional
actions, both big and
small, to help protect
the environment.
Initiatives that can help KPMG to achieve Carbon Neutrality
and to increase the awareness of environmental protection:
Participation in
WWF’s annual
Earth Hour.
The logo of office
can be switched off
during the entire
weekend and office
lights should be
turned off during
Earth Hour. Air Travel Offset .
More meetings can
take place virtually or
over the phone, rather
than in person.

Justification for the choice of the company Being aware that business plays a distinct and vital role in helping to solve important social and environmental issues, KPMG is one the companies where CSR is embedded into corporate culture. Multiple initiatives, conducted in the countries where KPMG is currently operating (and with 154 locations it means all around the world), range from volunteerism to philanthropy and corporate giving to its relationships with non-profits. The scope of activities of the organization reflects its commitment to youth, education, health and the environment and advocates social improvement. However, when speaking about a company going global, it seems pertinent to ask ourselves: what can the company do to stay locally responsive and make an impact on a smaller scale? How can it create a lasting change for local communities? Therefore, in this paper we consider KPMG’s CSR performance in Belarus and develop a strategy for further improvement.
  • 3. KPMG activities in the field of CSR Forest week. Every year KPMG employees participate in forest planting within the framework of the Republican campaign "Forest Week". Every New Year’s Eve KPMG employees buy gifts and together with Santa Claus and Snow Maiden visit children who are under the care of the Belarusian children's hospice. Cycle for Water. KPMG has supported the Cycle for Water humanitarian project, which aims to draw attention to the protection of drinking water sources. The aim of the project is also to develop innovative solutions to ensure access to water resources.
  • 4. CONCLUSIONS Corporate responsibility is central to the culture and values of KPMG in Belarus. The company strictly follows the principles of ethical behavior, environmental protection, as well as the principles of creating positive relationships with society.
  • 5. C O N C L U S I O N S KPMG partners and employees, individually and collectively, contribute to strengthening society, improving the environment, and creating a sustainable business future. KPMG supports the respect and protection of internationally proclaimed human rights, as well as the promotion of environmental responsibility. Company’s social responsibility is primarily directed at children and young people from poor families and orphanages. Through various activities, KPMG seeks to support the social integration and education, in the broad sense of the word, of such children and young people. But we think, that for such a big international company, three activities are not enough, that’s why we have developed broader and more detailed CSR strategy.

  • 9. KPMG’s CSR strategies should focus on the 3Es: Environment Engagement Education Under this framework, we came up with different sustainable initiatives that are aimed at:  Advancing Sustainability,  Community contributions  and Available Learning.

The aims and objectives within the CSR strategy: To reduce any damaging effects on the environment from the own operations To engage employees and stakeholders in the community to bring about systematic change that addresses environmental and social issues To develop the own potential as well as that of others and help cultivate future successful leaders
  • 11. 1. ENVIRONMENT Advancing sustainability Reducing energy use. To reduce energy usage a company should focus on four key areas: a) Lighting b) Office equipment c) Heating d) Cooling Celebrating green birthdays. Birthdays of KPMG ‘s employees are always special and it’s easy to make them even more memorable by planting five saplings on their behalf. Organisation of competitions. It’s a good idea to encourage employees to take additional actions, both big and small, to help protect the environment. Initiatives that can help KPMG to achieve Carbon Neutrality and to increase the awareness of environmental protection: Participation in WWF’s annual Earth Hour. The logo of office can be switched off during the entire weekend and office lights should be turned off during Earth Hour. Air Travel Offset . More meetings can take place virtually or over the phone, rather than in person.
  • 12. 2. ENGAGEMENT Community contributions VelcomBegom charity run Its popularity is the result of combining charitable goals with the promotion of physical fitness culture and business activity. So KPMG employees should also take part in such marathons for charitable causes. Blood Donation Each year KPMG should hold a blood drive targeting the employees. Giving Back to Society program The program empowers each one of KPMG’s employees to generate funds, resources and campaign for an NGO because of their choice.

EDUCATION Available Learning Student sponsorship programmes KPMG can provide scholarships to help students from financially deprived sections to complete their graduation and help them to focus on their studies and self- development without having to worry about their financial limitations. Mentoring/Skilled volunteering KPMG’s employees can mentor students under the scholarship scheme. During the interactive weekend sessions, guidance can be offered to the students on career planning, soft skills etc.
