1. 2014 Participants Reflect on Their Experience
The fact that the participants were from so many different
countries and contexts made the conversations very meaningful. I had
begun a new leadership role here in Rome and the Retreat certainly
renewed and refreshed me. It helped me make important decisions and
gave me clarity about the way forward for me in leadership. I appreciated
the fostering of the imagination through poetry, music and art and the time
spent allowing the landscape and the local spiritual sources to nourish my
inner life. The fact that the facilitators used an imaginative approach to tap
into and record our inner hopes and desires was a very rich experience. I
still reflect on many of these insights.”

I work in a world that has a lot of complexity and this retreat
gave me an opportunity to step out and think about my own sense of
leadership and the things I want to carry forward in the years to come,
both with my organization, and personally. It was a terrific experience.”

2. It’s very hard to describe the experience. You really have to be
there. Many things were just not familiar to me who grew up in a big
hustling, bustling international city in China. We were in this beautiful
place, surrounded by so many intelligent and artful leaders, and this
pierced places in me. I’ve re-imagined some experiences I had a long time
ago and was able to articulate certain things I didn’t think I was able to. I
found the experience very refreshing and satisfying.”

“
The Burren Executive Leadership Retreat is a powerful programme of
self-exploration, carried out in a deep and holistic fashion. It follows a highly
tuned path that takes one on a journey of openness and meaningful reflection,
which leads to a stronger personal understanding of leadership. The immense
depth of the learning is brought about by the bare, basic and simple beauty of
the location. It is only is a place such as the Burren where one can really find
the connection between what we are, what we want to be and the steps to
take us along the way.”

“The inspiration I found in those three days is something I return to on a
daily basis, whenever the spirit is flagging. I am greatly appreciative, as I face the
challenge of lifting a political party in advance of the general election next year.”
