3. Cell Division Cycle
G1- Cell growth
S Phase- DNA
synthesis
G2- period between
the end of DNA
replication and the
start of cell division
M Phase- actual
period of cell
division
7. Chromosomes
Humans most commonly have 22 pairs of
autosomes and 1 pair of sex chromosomes
(XX or XY), for a total of 46 chromosomes.
8. Chromosomes
Chromosomes that do not differ between males
and females are called autosomes.
The chromosomes that differ between males and
females are the sex chromosomes.
9. What is Mitosis?
-is a method of cell division in which
a cell divides and produces identical
copies of itself.
4 stages:
Prophase
Metaphase
Anaphase
Telophase
12. Metaphase
chromosomes
line up at the
middle of the
cell, along the
plane of cell
division, pushed
and pulled by
microtubules of
the spindle
apparatus
