2. I. HE…IS THE BRIDEGROOM
There is a contrast Between Jesus and John
the Baptist.
My thrill, my rejoicing and yours, should be in
Christ.
3. II. HE…MUST INCREASE
John the Baptist was not called to collect
followers after himself.
But the nature of man is such that we always
tend to worship the creature rather than the
creator.
And to seek fame, influence, power, is to rob
Jesus Christ.
4. III. HE…IS ABOVE ALL
A.Above John the Baptist
B. Above the prophets of the Old
Testament
C. Above Moses
D. Above all the angels in heaven
5. IV. HE…HATH SEEN AND
HEARD
The point is the difference between the
message of John the Baptist and the
message of Christ.
6. V. HE…W
HOM GOD HATH
SENT
"Christ … was sent in human nature, in the
likeness of sinful flesh, in the fulness of
time; to be the Saviour of the world, of
that which was lost, of the chief of sinners;
and to preach the glad tidings of the
Gospel,"
7. VI. HE…HAS NOT THE SPIRIT
BY MEASURE
It is completely at the discretion of God
which spiritual gifts each Christian receives
and in what proportion.
But to Christ, who is all God Himself, was
given the Spirit of God without measure, in
absolute and limitless fullness.
