Women Empowerment Volunteer, Hogar de Cristo,
Guayaquil, Ecuador
I volunteered at this NGO, in various programs.
Mainly in an entrepreneurship program dedicated to women in which I
supported promotional activities for the resulting products in the local
market. This included online promotion, teaching the female participants to
take over the facebook page and online catalogue. These classes I gave also
included photography tips for a more successful promotion.
I regularly participated in day to day activities surrounding the program such
as facilitating workshops, monitoring the women’s production, and organis-
ing a Christmas market in the city centre and promoting it through various
radio channels.
The second program I supported was a shelter for female survivors of domes-
tic violence and their children. Once a week I organised a nightly workshop
with the women where the idea was to create a safe and enriching space.
Activities revolved around the following themes: self-esteem, communal
living, gender, yoga, artistic creations, photographic sessions, as well as the
occasional celebratory karaoke and dance session.
Within both these programs I delivered activity reports along with my
personal feedback and notes from the sessions.
Finally, I participated in the Communications department in which, on top of
photographically documenting day to day activities and renewing their web-
site, I put forward certain projects which then went on to be implemented.
One followed the “Before I Die” wall example to allow people to voice their
dreams, another was in line with Nov 25th (International Day Against Gender
Violence), a collaborative project in which I asked workers and beneficiaries of
the NGO how they contributed to daily life free of gender violence.

Along with two colleagues and the help of funds won as a prize from SLA-
Summit, a social entrepreneurship competition at McGill, we organised
classes to teach women a variety of skills so as to give them an opportunity
to earn an extra income to support their families. We did this in collaboration
with Hogar de Cristo, the local NGO, which is where I later stayed on as a
volunteer. This also allowed me to monitor the results of our project.
Director, Bloom Initiative, Montreal, Canada
As part of a student-run online platform aiming to connect volunteers with
NGOs around the world at zero cost and 100% impact, I was officially in
charge of the website development, though I partook in most activities
depending on the needs, such as content creation for social media, commu-
nication with partners, and event planning for fundraisers.
Web Developer and Researcher, Cobalt Partners
I supported members of the company’s team in recruitment research. I
mainly covered management positions in the Healthcare, Education, and
Food sector for Private Equity clients. This activity taught me a great deal
about desktop research as well as reference writing for potential candidates.
I also redesigned their website, as well as reorganised the team’s database
and sharing system through the use of the cloud.
Freelance Tutoring, Worldwide
I have tutored many individuals ranging from 12 to 54 years old mostly
teaching languages (English, French, Spanish), both as a freelance tutor and
part of an organisation that prepared marginalised individuals for the equiv-
alent of their high-school exam.
Waitress, Auberge du Vieux Village, France
I worked as a waitress over a few summers where I really enjoyed the atmo-
sphere due to great teamwork.
Waitress, Do&Co., Montreal, Canada
I worked as part of the catering team for the VIP section for Do&Co, during
the Formula One Grand Prix.
Grape Harvester, Château Pontet Bagatelle, France
During the harvest season I participated in the daily harvesting activities in
the vineyards. As I worked there for a few years I eventually was put in
charge of the 10 people team making sure everyone was working on track.
After the harvest was done, I also participated in the winemaking process.
Through this experience I acquired new skills and knowledge aswell as an
earned sense of responsibility.
