Major Achievements:
Increasing the weekly number of young people attending Nagle House Youth Centre by
over 400% from 35 per week to 150 per week with no extra budget through development
of new volunteer roles, new targeted youth groups and local sponsorship.
In 2013 I won double gold at the IJKA World Karate Championships in the heavyweight
and grand champion events.
Winning sales man of the quarter in Red Energy in my first full quarter. There was over
40 sales people in the team so this was a great honor. It also led to me being nominated
for the annual company awards.
I started a village Karate club in 2005 which is currently the Irish national champion club,
boasts a large membership, and has had 6 world championship winning members, who
between them have won a total of 10 world gold medals.

Supported the Community by developing and increasing volunteer led youth services.
Researched the needs of the almost 2,000 young people in Youghal under the age of 18
and developed new self sufficient volunteer led services to meet those needs.
Revruited, supervised and ensured adequate training for 60 volunteers during my time,
for a total of 7 different volunteer led projects.
Developed income generating activities, and put volunteer structures in place, so the
centre can be self sufficient should funding become unavailable for rent/rates/ staff
Developed a men’s shed to meet the needs of men in the community who are looking for
peer support groups. The group has had a membership of 20 men in 3 months ranging
from 18 to 60 years of age, engaging in educational and social activities.

Developing a new coaching structure so the club is now in operation without me there
through 2 years of developing coaching staff and strengthening the committee roles.

Hobbies and Interests
Karate: I am a Third Dan Black Belt in Karate and have competed for Ireland since 1999 and
have had a very successful sporting career in Karate, which has taken me all over the world. In
2010 I had the honour of becoming the Captain of the Irish Karate Team.
Music: Throughout 2013 I played the Cajon Drum and performed as a Scat singer for 3 bands. I
took up the ukulele last year while I was in Australia, and intend on progressing my skills more
this year.
Charity: I have been involved in Kildorrery Youth Club holding position of Chairman for 2 years
and have been instrumental in fundraising for various charities for the past number of years.
Rugby: I am a big rugby fan who regularly attends amateur and professional games. I am a
member of the Munster Rugby supporters club as well as a season ticket holder.
