2. Accessibility & Inclusion
Investment Thesis
Public services such as transportation, education, healthcare, and finance have historically struggled to
provide for all members of society. We believe that there are opportunities to harness the power of
technology to create low-cost innovations that increase the reach and efficiency of these services.
Technological innovation in these sectors has the potential to be systemic, providing platforms for further
development and driving more sustainable change.
As such, we seek to invest growth capital into early-stage ventures that use technological innovations to
increase the accessibility and reach of public services in a scalable and sustainable way.
Sector Focus
Our primary focus will be on East Africa, Brazil and India, though we are also more broadly open to
investments in sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and Asia. Our team has strong connections to these
regions, which are experiencing varying degrees of rapid economic growth and high social need, partly
arising out of the inability of public services to keep pace with that growth. Investments in these regions are
rapidly diversifying into areas such as Internet Communication Technology, Agriculture, Health, and
Energy, which all show significant potential for creative, technological innovation to increase access to
public services.
Our focus will be on ventures that engage closely with local communities and through which communities
can become both providers and beneficiaries of services.
The MBA Impact Investing Network and Training (MIINT) is a global experiential educational program on the operation of an early-stage venture capital fund. The program
culminates in a final investment committee where each participating team presents to a judging committee of industry experts and compete for an up to $50,000 investment.
