To Whom It May Concern,
Marta Llagostera Cardelus worked as a summer student at EMBL-EBI from June to August
2014. While here, she worked on the InterPro and Pfam family databases, building and curating
new protein families, which will be used to help annotate the UniProt Knowledgebase.
During her time with the group, Marta became proficient in a range of bioinformatics
techniques, including the generation of multiple sequence alignments, hidden Markov model
profile building, and the assignment of Gene Ontology terms.
Marta proved to be a hard working and dependable team member, happy to ask questions and
take on board advice, and more than capable of meeting the challenges of her project. I have no
