Albury/Wodonga Campus
The northern façade, in contrast to the
southern, is composed predominately
of masonry with horizontal windows.
This allows material and colour to be
complimentary to the remainder of the
campus, and also provide a sense of
permanence.

The northern façade, in contrast to the

of masonry with horizontal windows,
to both complement the materials and
colour of the existing campus and
provide a sense of permanence.
2. Winner of a Royal Australian Institute
of Architects Award, the new purpose-
designed library at La Trobe University
is the physical focus point for the
Campus, providing students with the
means for both interaction and pursuit
of knowledge.
With its striking design providing a
unique and memorable identity, the
library responds to the Woods Bagot-
designed masterplan, creating a new
civic plaza in the library forecourt that
connects with the existing central
pedestrian path. Abstracted seating
elements in the plaza allow students to
meet, rest and relax. A transparent
glazed southern façade provides clear
visual access to the internal activities
of the library, providing a sense of
openness and light, and enforcing a
strong relationship between the
building and nature.

The internal planning places reading
and study areas on the perimeter of the
building to take advantage of natural
light and views, with the book stacks
located towards the centre.
In essence the library provides a
vibrant new focus - the “heart and
soul”of the Campus.
