ResearchtoReality.cancer.gov is an online community of practice designed to cre-
ate a dialogue between cancer control practitioners and researchers on how to move
evidence-based programs into practice.
Developed and supported by the National
Cancer Institute (NCI), this community is
both an information resource and a forum
where community members can connect
and collaborate with other public health
professionals. Members can ask questions,
discuss ideas and solutions, and share useful
resources and tools. They can also participate
in cyber-seminars and follow practictioners’
stories through the Mentorship Program.

2. The NCI Research to Reality Mentorship Program
The NCI Research to Reality (R2R) Mentorship
Program is a pilot program with the purpose to help
build the capacity of cancer control practitioners to
effectively navigate the complex, “real world” context
in which evidence-based decision making occurs. Six
mentees were matched with experienced public health
professionals to work on a year-long cancer control
and prevention project relevant to their current jobs.
Through the program, mentees will learn and apply the
skills and knowledge of evidence-based public health.
