Wassing the feet
Jesus takes on the role of a
servant just before dinner. He
washes and dries the feet of
his pupils. Peter is
embarrassed and wants to
refuse but Jesus explains that
only the ones who have been
clean(s)ed can follow him.
Jesus’ style is to serve others
To serve others is the
most important thing

The Last Supper
Celebrating and
remembering together
Jesus order his pupils by
eating bread and drinking
wine to remember his
sacrifice. Together we
celebrate that we are now
saved men , thanks to Jesus
and look forwards to meet
him.
3. Paasroute
Getsemané
Pray for willingness
Just before Jesus is
captured, he takes some
distance from his three best
friends and kneels down to
pray. He asks God to give
him willingness for the task
ahead of him..
4. Paasroute
The Betrayal
Voluntary submission
Jesus’ pupil Judas shows the
soldiers who has to be captured
by greeting Jesus with a kiss.
Jesus uses his power to makes
sure his other pupils are save,
but hands himself over to the
soldiers after that. His pupils are
scared and run away.
5. Paasroute
Before the council
Rejected by the
spiritual leaders
Jesus is being tried by the
spiritual leaders. They can’t
find him guilty of anything
apart from Jesus saying that
he is the son of God. This is
enough for the leaders to
sentence Jesus to death.
6. Paasroute
Peters denial
Rejected by his
best friend
Although Peter wants to know
what is happening to Jesus and
stays close by, he is too scared
to admit that he knows Jesus.
Three times he denies that he
is one of Jesus disciples. When
he hears a cock crow at dawn
he realises what has happened
and leaves the building full of
repentance.
7. Paasroute
Before Pontius Pilate
Convicted by the
government
The roman prefect Pontius
Pilate knows that Jesus has
been brought to him because
the Jewish leaders hate Jesus.
He cannot find a reason to
condemn Jesus, but when put
under presure by the Jewish
leaders he does send Jesus to
his death.
8. Paasroute
Before the crowd
Rejected by his own
people
Pilate is reluctant to condemn
Jesus and as a last resource he
lets the crowd choose between
the release of Jesus or a
murderer. The hysterical crowd
shouts for Jesus to be crucified
9. Paasroute
Beaten
Abused
After Jesus has been sentenced to
death the soldiers start to mock Jesus
and make fun of him. They put a crown
of thorns on his head and give him a
kings cloak to wear. After they have
severely beaten him they lead him
away.
10. Paasroute
Carrying his cross
A burden to heavy to
carry for a man
Jesus has to carry his own
cross on his way to the place
of execution Golgotha. People
laugh at him, but there are
also people crying for him.
When he cannot take the
heavy burden any longer a
passer by is forced to take the
cross and carry it further.
11. Paasroute
On the cross
Between heaven and earth
Jesus is crucified. A sign
above his head says: this is
the King of the Jews.
Two criminals are also being
crucified and are put on either
side of Jesus. The crowd are
making fun of them. The sky
becomes dark and Jesus
undergoes the insults and
curse.
Then he shouts: “It is
finished!” and dies.
12. Paasroute
The death of Jesus
Until the bitter ending
After these last words of
victory Jesus dies. The
earth starts to shake and
the curtains in the temple
tear apart. To check if
Jesus has really died a
soldier pierces Jesus side
with a spear.
13. Paasroute
Buried
Declared death in front
of everybody
Jesus’ disciples take his body
and wrap it in clean linen and
lay him in a new tomb hewn
out of a rock. A large stone is
rolled before the entrance to
close it. To make sure
nobody will steal the body
guards are put in front of the
tomb.
14. His death
Jesus died to defeat our enemy:
Death. His death gives us hope
when we have to bury
someone. Jesus death was only
temporary and now our death
will also only be a door to the
enternal life. It is not about
death anymore, but about faith
in Jesus.
Paasroute
He died like anyone,
so we may live
15. Paasroute
The empty tomb
A new life for who believes
In the early morning of Easter
they find Jesus tomb open and
empty. The linen strips are still
lying there. At first Jesus
disciples and followers are
scared and confused, but when
they see Jesus alive they know:
He’s arisen!

Our new life
To follow Jesus is like to be born
again. You enter a new (ever
lasting) life of peace. Death is
only a door to the eternal life. Its
unimaginable for us still, but in
faith and in prayer we start the
journey to Gods new world
Death has been defeated
for everybody who follows
Jesus
