2. HISTORICAL CONTENT
In December 1897, the Philippine Revolution ended in a stalemate between
the Spaniards and Filipino Rebels - a truced happened.
The truce only lasted for only few months before it collapses.
Deteriorating relationship between Spanish and American, which led to
Spanish - American War in 1898.
Arrival of new colonizer - the Americans.
3. BATTLE OF MANILA
Took place in 1898.
Aguinaldo at this time remained in Hongkong, purchasing two items - rifles
and ammunition. Although the first shipment arrives, the other half was not
delivered.
On May 19, 1898 - Aguinaldo returned to the Philippines on board in a US
cruiser McCulloch
Aguilnaldo then announced the resumption of the revolution against the
Spaniards, beginning the phase of the revolution.
4. THE VICTORY
May 28 - the Filipino won their first victory in Alapan, Imus.
Then the newly flag hoisted in Alapan later unfurled at the Teatro Caviteno in
Cavite Nuevo (now Cavite City) in front of the Filipinos and captured Spaniard
soldiers.
The proclamation of the Philippine independence took place at Cavite Viejo
on June 12, 1898.
During that day, our flag was raised for the first time to the tune of the
national anthem which likewise played for the first time.
5. On June 18, 1898, upon the advised and recommendation of Apolinario
Mabini, Aguinaldo issued another decree.
The first step leading to the eventual formation of the Constitutional
republican assembly.

6. Aguinaldo convened a revolutionary assembly , The Malolos, in September.
First in Asia - democratic constitution with Aguinaldo as the president in
January 1898.
