• Ginger is an Indian hotel chain in Economy and
mid-market space, established by Roots Corporation
Limited, and part of the Tata Group, a new brand
under a category called "Smart Basics Hotels".
• The first hotel was opened
in Whitefield, Bangalore in June 2004.
• Roots Corporation Limited is a subsidiary of The
Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL). IHCL, part

than 100 luxury hotels in operation around the globe by
2021
• In the next 12 months alone, 10 new hotels with a total of
2,108 rooms and suites will open their doors; three will
be located in the Caribbean and one hotel each in Tel
Aviv, Tbilisi, Bangkok, Guangzhou, Brazzaville, Almaty
and New York—a first for the 122-year-old company.
