It is a basic power point presentation on blood pressure..
Blood pressure meaning, defination, factors effecting blood pressure and stages of blood pressure is mentioned in the presentation...
2. INTRODUCTION
Normal blood pressure is vital
to life. Without the pressure
which forces our blood to flow
around the circulatory system,
no oxygen or nutrients would be
delivered through our arteries to
the tissues and organs.
However, blood pressure
can become dangerously high,
and it can also get too low.
3. DEFINITION
Blood Pressure is the force
exerted by the blood
against the walls of the
blood vessels as it flows
through them.
5. MEASUREMENT OF BLOOD PRESSURE
Blood pressure is measured with an
instrument called
SPHYGMOMANOMETER.
First, a cuff is placed around the
arm and inflated with a pump until
the circulation is cut off.
A small valve slowly deflates the
cuff, and the doctor measuring
blood pressure uses a stethoscope,
placed over the arm, to listen for the
sound of blood pulsing through the
arteries.
6. That 1st sound of rushing blood
refers to the systolic blood
pressure; once the sound fades,
the 2nd number indicates the
diastolic pressure, the blood
pressure of the heart at rest.
Blood pressure is measured in
millimeters of mercury (mm Hg)
and recorded with the systolic
number first, followed by the
diastolic number.
For example, a normal blood
pressure would be recorded as
something under 120/80 mm
Hg.
