1. I am Manikandan Manodhas, Chemical engineer (B.Tech) having 11 years of
experience in HSE, Oil and Gas Construction Projects, Health and safety
documentation in Oil and Gas construction industry
Presently working in Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Petroleum Operation Ltd.
(ADCO); Engineering & Projects Department from July 2010 to date. As a seconded as
a full-time Senior Safety Engineer through Altorath International Engineering
Consultants (Project management consultant to ADCO)
My assigned responsibilities are as listed below:
Ensures that all the company personnel and sub-contractors on site adhere to the
Company's safety policy and working practices. This involves monitoring work on sites to
check safety requirements are being satisfied, attending HSE meetings to deal with
queries and provide assistance on all HSE matters. Minutes decisions regarding safety
matters.
 Carrying out spot checks on fire and safety equipment, such as gas detection
equipment, hoses, fire extinguishers, breathing apparatus and various alarms
systems including directing and participating in the regular maintenance.
 Investigates accidents or incidents, as required, includes reviewing the incident
circumstances, obtaining statements, reports, other supporting documents, taking
photographs, measurements and sketches and samples of damaged equipment.
 Submit reports on work practices and ensures that work is completed correctly
and re-distributes equipment to work site, maintaining records of work undertaken and
site at which equipment can be located.
 Troubleshoots safety problems or queries as they arise and recommends the
sealing off or shutting down of parts of the plant, if an unsafe condition exists.
 Participates in regular HSE inspections/audits and provides advice and
assistance aimed at reducing accidents and/or the consequences of accidents. This
includes occupational health, welfare and road safety issues.
 Promotes safety and safe working conditions and procedures by ensuring
participation in safety and fire drills by all level of employees.
 Daily : Site Inspections / PTW Audits, Vehicles spot check, Contractors Progress
Meeting (Monday to Thursday, HSE Inspection Tracking, PMT Daily Inspection and
Follow-up
 Weekly: Weekly People risk at site report , Updating GRAB, HSE weekly
meeting with Construction Office team, Updating / Review HEARTS events
 Monthly: Preparing Monthly HSE report, conduct Emergency Drills, Evacuation
Drills, Table Top Exercises, Monthly HSE contractors' meeting,
 Quarterly: CHSE AUDIT, GRAB quarterly report, HSEMS quarterly self-
assessment, Quarterly Vehicles Inspection, HSE Committee meeting,
 Annually : Contractor HSEMS Plan Review / Approval (January)
 When ever required : Accident Investigation, Pre-mobilization camp audit,
Post-mobilization camp audit,PHSER, Review medical fitness and medical
requirements, TRA meetings
