Main Objective:
Improve the relationship between the ministry and target groups (beneficiaries,
related professions, other official bodies and community) and work to develop it.
Realize the community‘s needs and prospective in order to contribute to improve
their levels.
Responsibilities:
Working with various community parties like: fishermen, consumers,
government mangers in coastal and internal areas, private sector, local
citizens.
Conducting community people and principals to get information to assess
their conditions and aid the management plan.
Analyze and study the issues come from the community and solve them
out in contribution to the responsible departments by engagement with
them in direct meetings, forums or suitable events.

Supervision on (sea code) local committees in coastal areas.
Sea Code Committees or Senate Al-Bahar (Local name) in Oman are found in each
coastal city in Oman, they are responsible of looking after the society socio-economic
issues. Also, they monitor compliance, review fisheries’ regulations, resolve conflicts
and work toward the needed fishery management decisions. They are headed by the
local Walis, community representatives. There are 27 committees in all costal cities in
Oman.
Study and Analyze of recommendations of the committees minutes
meetings.
Prepare feedback for the recommendations in association with the
responsible departments and send them back to the committees.
Contribution to the preparation of legislative organizational board for the
committees.
Implement some surveys using questionnaires and other tools in order
gathering some socio-economic data of the communities that will facilities
the work plans to deal with them and provide the maximum assistance..
Contribution to the technical support for the local communities through
consultation services on:
Increase their income and develop the socioeconomic conditions.
Improvement of fishing operations and technics.
Establishment of small projects related to the fishing industry.
Training on voluntary social services.
Target groups: local decision makers, local fishery managers,
private sector, government representatives in cities (Walis) and
responsible in fish factories and companies.
Organize and execute development programs for community to encourage
them to establish small and medium projects in order to improve their
socio-economic conditions.
Assistance the community to establish cooperatives associations in order
to engage communities in the process of participatory planning, managing
and monitoring for the sustainable management.
