National Association of Trauma Specialists hosts “Back to the Basics” first aid event
Who: National Association of Trauma Specialists (NATS) leadership and Board of Directors
What: NATS is hosting a “Back to the Basics” event with free workshops on first aid.
When: Saturday Sept. 10, 2016 at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m..
Where: The University of Tennessee, Knoxville

Why: To teach and inform the general public about basic first aid for minor emergencies
How: Offer a free event, with childcare and lunch, open to the public (ages 13 and older) which
includes workshops and CPR training.

Details:
The “Back to the Basics” event will educate the local community about the overcrowding
problems in hospital emergency rooms and professionals will perform workshops to
inform the publics about basic first treatment to prevent the misuse of emergency rooms.
Keynote Speaker, Elizabeth R. Nguyen, will share her experiences as a nurse at a major
hospital emergency room and the constant issues that can be prevented.
A press conference to launch the event will be held at 10 a.m. on Sept. 9.
