Due: Oct 9th 2013
2. Strengths Opportunities
o Our business will be orientated in
the worlds largest marsh
(competitive advantage)
o We both are well qualified and
experienced in outdoor
education/outdoor industry. I.e.
interpretation skills, plants and
wildlife knowledge, certifications
we have, etc.
o Our location is a strength because
it is an attractive location that is
warm year round. Internationally
people come from all over to
experience this environment
o We will be a socially,
environmentally, and sustainably
responsible company. We will not
run the risk of losing customers
o No to little competition in
surrounding area (room to grow).
Ie. We can put in a visitor
education center, interpretive
trails (self guided), bird towers,
etc.
o Brazil is a new market for
outdoor education/outdoor
industry; which leaves
opportunity for our company to
introduce the ideas of
sustainability, education in the
outdoors/ hands on education,
and more!
o We could have the opportunity to
expand our company by doing a
joint venture with schools not
only from the surrounding area
but internationally. For example
the Algonquin Costa Rica
exchange.
Weakness Threats
o This will be our first business to
start up and we are only
beginners
Solution: Be prepared and know
everything we can. Have a good
money source and business plan.
o There’s a small percentage of
travelers who will go to unknown
countries in an unfamiliar
environment and that is our
window of business.
Solution: Positive Advertisement.
We will create a series of ads and
post them in places where people
from each part of the spectrum
can find them (i.e. a well known
travel agency)
o We are recently graduated
o Since Brazil is an up and coming
country there will be competition
in the future and we will need to
be prepared.
Solution: Advertising. Offering
deals or activities other
companies will not have. Finally
building a relationship with the
local area. I.e. Building Trust with
our customers.
o Since our company will be
international we will need to
know rules, regulations, political,
economical, financial, and legal
issues. These factors could be
threat to our company.
Solution: Research Brazil (rules
regulations etc). Also get in
3. students who have debt and
starting a business isn’t
inexpensive.
Solution: Bank loans, Government
grants, gifts from friends and
family & fundraising
contact with Brazil’s government.
o High Risk of liability; the local
environment is hostile in the way
that there’s venomous snakes,
frogs, plants, spiders and other
animals that can kill a human
Solution: Waivers* Brief the
customers on all factors that
could potentially harm or kill
them. Have a firm ERP in place
