COUNTY GOVERNMENT OF NAROK PROPOSED COAT OF ARMS
2investNarok : International Investment Summit 2015, Narok, Kenya
Message from Hon. Samuel K Tunai, Governor Narok County, Kenya
World is flat or is it ? I often ask this question to myself and the only answer that comes to my heart is – no it is not flat, at least not yet!
I feel that the world would be truly flat if and only if all the citizens of the world have equal and easy access to quality living ! when food will be
available at affordable price to one and all, when the citizens of developing nations would not have to travel far to access basic healthcare and
education, when infrastructure would not be considered the privilege of a few, when budding entrepreneurs will have access to competitive
finance irrespective of their geographical location and when technological innovation will not be restricted to just the urban centers… that is
when the world world will start getting flatter.
This will not happen on its own, we will have to play our role in transforming our regions of accountability. An accountability which elected
leaders have been entrusted with by its citizens. By the virtue of power and responsibility vested in ‘me’ by the citizens of my blessed County, I
have undertaken a journey to bring about socio-economic transformation of the County. I strongly believe that Narok County is not only well
endowed to transform the lives of its own citizens but at the same time contribute towards enhancing the lives of many around the around.
In the context of achieving Narok’s Vision , I truly believe that a holistic transformation of the ‘County as a Whole’ is required. Facilitating an
ecosystem in which participants of the economy can thrive with minimal interventions, while enjoying maximum relative ease to succeed.
To ensure alignment with a corporate investor’s mindset, I appointed a team of high caliber consultants and created an extended international
‘think tank’ to drive this initiative. Over last few months, my team identified over 50 viable projects, developed investment summaries for all,
mapped potential investors for each of these in various countries and engaged with them. I then personally held direct meetings with potential
investors at their locations, with crystal clear pre-planning and well-defined agenda. As a result, today we have more than one option for some
of our key projects, and we have secured confirmed expressions of interests for multiple projects.
We have addressed key issues concerning land, access to finance, ease of doing business, eradication of red-tape and facilitating success. I have
passed a legislative order to establish ‘Narok Investment Board’; a body which will be run independently by a team of corporate sector leaders
with cross-cultural global experience across industries. This body has been tasked to ensure that all potential investors are managed
professionally and all their concerns, queries and needs are addressed.
As a key next step in this economic transformation journey we have planned for hosting the First Narok International Investment Summit
on 3rd and 4th of December 2015 at the Serena Hotel at Maasai Mara Game Reserve. I hope to see you there, signing firmed-up
memorandums and expressions of intent on 4th December. My team will work closely with you towards this vision.
Yours sincerely
Hon. Samuel K Tunai

Ø NCG understands that the ecosystem is an interplay of
these various independent but interdependent components
Ø For this ecosystem or the County to mature, a requisite
minimum level of maturity is needed in each of the
components, though, all will not and need not be at the same
level for the County to be effective and efficient –achieve its
vision.
Ø NCG believes that the Holistic County maturity will be
achieved as a sum total of the maturity of the
(i) Enablers – Social, Political and Macroeconomic Pillars
(ii) Delivery Engine – Economic Pillar.
Ø And the maturity has to be measured in the context of
global standards and not local or regional standards.

As a result, today we have more than one option for some of our key projects, and we have secured confirmed expressions of interests for multiple projects. We have addressed key issues concerning land, access to finance, ease of doing business, eradication of red-tape and facilitating success. I have passed a legislative order to establish ‘Narok Investment Board’; a body which will be run independently by a team of corporate sector leaders with cross-cultural global experience across industries. This body has been tasked to ensure that all potential investors are managed professionally and all their concerns, queries and needs are addressed. As a key next step in this economic transformation journey we have planned for hosting the First Narok International Investment Summit on 3rd and 4th of December 2015 at the Serena Hotel at Maasai Mara Game Reserve. I hope to see you there, signing firmed-up memorandums and expressions of intent on 4th December. My team will work closely with you towards this vision. Yours sincerely Hon. Samuel K Tunai

Ø NCG believes that the Holistic County maturity will be achieved as a sum total of the maturity of the (i) Enablers – Social, Political and Macroeconomic Pillars (ii) Delivery Engine – Economic Pillar.
