2. “Social and Economic Effects of COVID-19 on Pakistan Society”
Introduction:
The coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic is the defining global health crisis
of our time and the greatest challenge we have faced since World War Two. Since
its emergence in Asia late last year, the virus has spread to every continent except
Antarctica. Cases are rising daily in Asia, Africa the Americas, and Europe.
Nations are hustling to slow the spread of the disease by testing and rewarding
patients, completing contact following, constraining travel, isolating residents, and
dropping huge social events, for example, games, shows, and schools.
The pandemic is moving like a wave—one that may yet crash on those least able to
cope. In any case, COVID-19 is significantly more than a health emergency. By
focusing on all the nations, it contacts, it can possibly make devastating social,
financial, and political emergencies that will leave deep scars.
Every day, people are losing jobs and income, with no way of knowing when
normality will return. Small island nations, heavily dependent on tourism, have
empty hotels and deserted beaches. The International Labor Organization estimates
that 25 million jobs could be lost.
3. ECONOMIC EFFECTS:
Pakistan has seen a monstrous increment in its confirmed cases from the
underlying two confirmed on 26th February 2020. As a nation whose economy is
profoundly dependent on assembling and administration businesses, shutdown
measures and disturbances in gracefully chains will negatively impact on the
economy and society, especially poor people.
As in different nations, the pandemic is probably going to pressure the limit of the
general health system and result in the loss ofhuman lives. Serious repercussions on
employment, particularly of the most powerless, reliant on government support, are
normal. The shutdown measures have just affected private ventures, little and
medium enterprises, and everyday wagers related to different parts of the economy.
Considering that the casual area in the nation represents a significant portion of the
national economy and employs 27.3 million people, an expansion in
underemployment and neediness combined with suggestions on food creation and
by and large food security is anticipated.
Pakistan is evaluated to have faced a financial loss of up to Rs2.5 trillion in light of
the Covid-19 pandemic in the current monetary year and government figures project
that around 3,000,000 occupations are required to be lost in the "underlying round"
of the novel coronavirus episode.
ThosePakistanis who have experienced the most the monetary effect of the episode
on lives and employments are essentially the nation's day by day wage laborers and
urban slum dwellers.
Views of USA, Dr. Ma Haiyan,
Associate Professor, Frostburg State University and President of Zheng he Forum,
said that the economic and health impact of COVID-19 is being borne
disproportionately by poorpeople. If this crisis cannot be addressed properly, it may
also increase the inequality, exclusion, discrimination, and unemployment in the
short and long term, which might whirl out of control of societal leaders

4. Lack of Imports and Exports:
Exporters from Pakistan cannot process their requests and the installments
from past requests have likewise been stopped much of the time as organizations
abroad, for the most part in Europe and the U.S have been closed. Development of
products and freight is additionally blocked making it incredibly hard to keep up the
progression of the business. On the other hand, imports cannot be finished as
lockdowns have closed each significant city on the planet. Individuals are not
coming to workplaces and Governments have requested to telecommute. This model
can work for IT and administration-based organizations yet exchange includes
unmistakable merchandise, which cannot be taken care of without human nearness.
There are countless privately owned businesses in Pakistan that heavily depend on
imports for running effectively. Business shippers will experience the ill effects of
delays or complete stoppage of the significant worth chain while mechanical
merchants should stop creation as a result of the non-accessibility of crudematerial.
After the underlying effortlessness time frame, the deficits in income will bring
about compensation cuts and afterward at long last, work misfortunes. As indicated
by PIDE (Pakistan Institute of Development Economics), there will misfortunes of
occupations in the millions, especially for semi-gifted and everyday workers.
Around 2.4%of the Annual GDP will be lost due to COVID-19, which is sufficient
to send the nation into a spiraling downturn.
Besides, on the interior side, the closure of schools, workplaces, industrial
facilities, and markets will hit the little and medium organizations. There is a chance
of mass insolvencies. As the center and lower salary groups struggle to win enough
pay to take care of themselves and pay for necessities, which can result in hyper-
expansion, joblessness, and a complete breakdown of the economy.
5. The Prime Minister of Pakistan understood this situation and has taken significant
analysis for not actualizing a total lockdown of the entire nation. In his words, we
are confronted with two difficulties, Corona Virus and its monetary effect on the
poor portions of the general public.
Somehow, there is some factors that are also be noticeable like the Prime Minister
of Pakistan is also helping its country throw some relief funds schemes. He also
builds a tiger force to pass out the food into rural areas.
Social Effects:
The COVID-19 is really put a great amount of social impact on Pakistan
society. There are several impacts that COVID-19 puts on our Islamic society as
well. I think this is the first time in our Islamic history we are also creating a social
distance in our prayers as well. Because Islam always taught us to be close to each
other or offer prayer by going close to each other.
COVID-19 is telling us that never to be close with each other always make
social distance while greeting to each other never shake hands to each other. Never
hug to each other. One of the biggest impacts or effects is that it closes our mosques
as well. It is departing us to each other instead of in our prayers as well. It is all due
to the virus because it spread through personto person through air or through social
contact. So, that is why it puts a huge impact on our social life as well.
6. Closure of Mosques:
As the virus spreads in Pakistan it starts affecting everything like every
institution. It includes Social, Economic, Political, Medical, Educational. etc.
In social institution, if talked about the closure of our religious institution like our
Mosques. This is the big hallmark on Muslim society that our Mosques are closed
with the orders of the Pakistan government. Where we deliver the message of peace
and happiness. If we like to know that, this whole matter making us apart from each
other. Instead, in our religious life as well.
After the pressure of religious institution government allowed the people to offer
their prayers into a mosque by the only way to follow the SOP’s of the government
that they generate to fight against this virus.
Inside, more than 200 people are gathered, separated by a few feet between them -
to maintain physical distancing - as they offer tarawih prayers, a special Muslim
prayer offered in the holy month of Ramadan.
There is not a face mask or bottle of hand sanitizer to be seen, as more worshippers
walk past the police picket outside to crowd into the mosque's inner chamber, with
its fluorescent lights twinkling off the latticed mirror ceiling.
Closure of Educational Institution:
Somehowit also affects socially onour educational institution as well. Our
educational scatters are totally stopped or flopped due to this pandemic. Most of it
affects our students their loss oftheir educational orthe loss oftheir learning. Instead
of, having an online system to teach students through online classes. Where the
students felt many difficulties. Like most of the students, those are from village
areas.
7. They all faced connectivity issues or the students who are from poor families or
having a lack of resources. They all faced many issues like internet packages money
to make a connection with their teachers or classmates. There is a great amount of
loss of education for those students. there is an issue for those students as well
instead of having an internet connection, but they cannot understand anything. This
all because we all are not habitual of these things. But we should have to appreciate
our teachers those who struggle for us in a bad situation of COVID-19.
Transportation issues:
There are transportation issues as well for the common public. Due to this
pandemic recently the government of Pakistan has stopped all types of
transportation. So, the people cannot go to meet their beloved ones and those who
are in the other states or other cites they all face problems becauseinstead of having
no work they all are surviving alone without their families.
Isolation and Market Behavior:
Yes, totally we all are feeling awkward for staying form long term at their
homes. It because we all are not habitual of it. A sense of isolation occurred in
everybody. we all are afraid to meet each other. We did not like to shake hands with
each other.
The biggest impact is that our market people's behavior is changed towards
the common public. As the virus entered in Pakistan, they all started hiding medical
items like Masks, Sanitizers, or ventilators. And they all started to sell it on premium
prices.
8. Conclusion:
As we are an underdeveloped nation and the closure of our economic scatters
puts a huge impact on our country's economy and on the living of the common
public. If we closed the markets than the people will die with starvation and hunger.
on the other hand, by opening the lockdown than it will again be harmful to the
public. It also puts the impact on the social lives of the people it makes us apart from
each other. And, if we really want to control down the things then we should have
to follow the sops by Government. If you want to survive in this World.
“May Allah keep us safe and healthy and protect us from this virus”
