6. Introduction
• Quasiturbine or Quarbine engine – piston less –
rotary –engine.
• sides are hinged at the vertices
• It is a compact , low weight, high torque machine –
with top efficiency.
• It is a no crankshaft rotary engine – having 4 faces
rotor with a free and accessible centre – without
vibration – not dead time.

• The deformable rotor – blades are hinged at the vertices.
• The rotor is enclosed by oval housing - provides a
compression and expansion as similar to the wankel
engine.

8. working of quasiturbine
• The basic working principle of Quasi turbine is
same as internal combustion engine.
• The principle of any IC Engine involves:
Let a mixture of fuel and air enters into
chamber
Compress the fuel and air
Ignite the fuel to create an explosion
Release the exhaust

• In Quasiturbine - doesn’t need piston and
crankshaft – perform the rotary conversion.
• There are four cycles
o INTAKE - draws air and fuel mixture

• Quasiturbine engine –belongs to photo-detonation type.
• Photo-detonation: a premixed fuel-air charge
undergoes tremendous compression until the fuel self
ignite.
• it employs a homogenous charge and compression
ignition hence it is described as HCCI(Homogenous
charge compression Ignition) engine.
• Photo-detonation engine completely combust the fuel
leaving behind no hydrocarbons.

oThe rotor turns inside a nearly oval shaped
housing
oSides of a rotor seal against the sides of
housing
oCorners of the rotor seal against inner
periphery dived into four chambers.

2. Quasiturbine with carrage
• `it has a four ports
o A port – install a spark plug
o A port – enclose with a removable plug
o A port – intake of air and fuel
o A port – for exhaust

• The typical design of Quasiturbine with carriage
o Rotor has four blades
o Each blades has filler tip and traction slots – to
receive the coupling arms
o Pivots are used to join the blades and also for
locking carriage
o each carriage consists of two wheels – used to roll
smoothly

• As the rotor blade turns volume of the chamber changes
• At first volume increases-allows the air fuel mixture
• Volume decreases – compress the mixture.
• Before the end of the compression fuel air mixture burn by
spark plug.
• One combustion stroke ending right when next combustion
stroke is ready to fire.

• The four chambers produce two consecutive circuits
• The first circuit is used to compress and expand during
combustion
• The second is used to exhaust and intake air
• In revolution of the rotor four power stroke are produced
• That’s 8 times more than the typical piston engine

• Simplicity and small size
• Zero vibration because the engine is perfectly
balanced
• Faster acceleration without fly wheel
• Higher torque at lower rpm
• Less noise
• Fewer moving parts from less wear and tear
• It increases the fuel efficiency
• It can run on different kinds of fuel

• the design of quasi turbine engine is typically built of
aluminium and cast iron, which expands and contract by
different degrees when expose to heat leading to some
incidence of leakage
• the quasi turbine engine is still in its infancy. The engine
is not used in any real world applications. It is still in its
prototype phase

• The Quasi turbine is thus a pressure driven engine producing
continuous torque with a symmetrically deformable spinning wheel.
• The basic limitation of the Quasiturbine engine at a present stage is
that it is in its infancy stage.
• . Quasi turbine is a new technology probably unwelcome in the world of
engine establishment.
• Quasi turbine machine having very reliable technology
• model is having maximum efficiency 62% at 3640 rpm.
• It is very clean, low weight, low rpm energy recovering instrument.
