3. Los verbos frasales
(phrasal verbs) o
simplemente phrasals,
son estructuras
formadas por un
verbo y una
preposición o un
adverbio, los cuales
cambian el significado
de la acción del verbo.
A estas estructuras se
les considera como
una unidad.
Algunas de los
complementos más
utilizadas en los
frasales, son: in, out,
on, off, up, down, at,
to, by.
Lista verbal
Ask = pedir, preguntar
Ask in = pedir a alguien que entre
Ask out = pedir a alguien que salga
Turn = girar, dar vuelta
Turn on = encender
Turn off = apagar
Pick = escoger, tomar, recolectar
Pick up = levantar, subir algo
Pick down = bajar, descargar
Look = ver, mirar
Look at = observar, buscar
Look out = tener cuidado
Look for = buscar
Look forward = esperar, estar ansioso
4. Conjugación. Al
conjugar los
frasales, el adverbio
o preposición no
sufren cambios; el
verbo base se
conjuga como le
corresponda, ya sea
regular o irregular:
Mary will look for her keys again.
The bellboy picked up the baggage at our room.
When the lights was turned off, the show began.
When we solve the test Robert stood out with his answers.
I stay at home. Steve will wait around for me.
Los gerundios se forman agregando la terminación –ing al
verbo:
Her speech was touching off an angry discussion.
Dad is washing out my black shirts again.
I will be setting aside my fear and will talk her.
The gipsy was seeing into my future.
When the bull was running, all the people run standing aside.
En algunas ocasiones, puede colocarse parte de la oración entre
el verbo y la preposición o el adverbio, sin alterar el sentido del
frasal.
At any moment the kids was sitting in their chairs up.
Margareth ran quickly away.
The girl walk hurry out the school.
Yesterday was setting a game up.
On Saturdays, Richard Sleeps it off.
