DETAIL OF PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN
Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA) of undercarriage System
As a part of System Safety Analysis, FHA has been carried out using Mil-STD-882D for
undercarriage system. Various functional hazards were identified and their respective Severity
levels and Probability of occurrence was Categorized as part of HRI.
Failure mode, effects and criticality analysis (FMECA)
LRU level-Main Under Carriage Uplock
FMECA is a bottom up approach which provides thorough insight in to the system for its strengths
and weaknesses. FMECA also gives ranking to the criticality of the failure modes. It is an iterative
2. documentation process, systematic in nature performed to identify basic faults at part level and
determine their effects at higher levels of assembly. By tracing the effects of an individual item,
failures up to the system level are analyzed and thus tracing the effects of an individual item
assesses the criticality of part. FMECA carried out using MIL-STD-1629A.
Reliability Prediction of indigenous LRUs
LRU level- Heat exchangers, self sealing coupling (drop tank & pylon) Gimbal assembly with
venturi, Hydraulic filters, water drain valve.
Tools used-Reliasoft Blocksim, Item toolkit, Mechrel, Relex.
For the LRU’s failure rate is calculated using NSWC-11 and NPRD 95.
Reliability estimation of various LRUs of propulsion system, hydraulic system, fuel system,
undercarriage system and Brake parachute system using field data.
Reliability Estimation is a procedure to calculate the reliability of the system from the field data.
This analysis uses a data extracted from the snag reports obtained during different flights of LCA
in developmental phase. All the LRUs life data is extracted in the form of “times to failure” for a
concerned LRU during development tests. The collected Field Data in the form of D-Forms/Log
Books etc. Based on the data various models have been used for the estimation.
Tool used- RGA-6.
Life data analysis for different system of aircraft using Field Data.
In life data analysis (also called "Weibull analysis"), the practitioner attempts to make
predictions about the life of all products in the population by fitting a statistical distribution to
life data from a representative sample of units. The parameterized distribution for the data set
can then be used to estimate important life characteristics of the product such as reliability or
probability of failure at a specific time, the mean life and the failure rate
Tool used- Weibull++7
