Wire is a magazine dedicated to alternative music genres such as hip hop, rock, electronic music, and modern classical. It has a simple layout with sci-fi colors that add mystery and portray its focus on underlooked music. Elektro is dedicated to electronic music and uses signature orange and black colors in its design. It avoids capital letters except for the phrase "The Real Definition of a Rock Star" to emphasize that message.
2. Wire
• This is a magazine dedicated to the genre of
alternative music. I liked the mystery of the
cover of this magazine as well as it’s simple and
basic layout. The colours are very sci-fi and add
that sense of mystery to what is alternative
music: music that is normally under looked. The
bar code is also strangely placed and makes it
look very interesting and alien towards people
which kind of describes the entire music the
magazine is based around. Founded in 1982 by
Anthony Wood and Chrissie Murray; this
magazine focuses on various genres of
experimental music which includes hiphop, rock, electronic music, modern classical
and free improvisation.
3. Elektro
• This magazine is dedicated to electronic music
and all the artists associated with it. While the
cover did not really peak my interest, I did
recognise it because elektro is known for using
their signature orange and black colours as
their main image. Also, they tend not to use
capital letters as it is seen on the names and
the title. Interestingly enough, the only words
that have capital letters are ‘The Real
Definition of a Rock Star’, which may be trying
to imply the most important message of the
cover. This is indeed the kicker and of course
the most important strapline alongside the
title and the name above it.
