Cover Letter for Artificial Intelligence Consulting Work.

1. Greetings,
I hope you are well. My name is Luke R. Barnesmoore and I am the co-Founder/
Director of the UBC Urban Studies Lab. My research centers on the nexus of
human and algorithmic epistemology (i.e. psychology and artificial intelligence)
in the contexts of language analysis software, automated vehicles and smart
cities. In short, and in the ethos of authors like Kierkegaard, my research
methods are oriented towards creating problems: how do the differences between
human and algorithmic epistemological potentials create problems for
algorithms that are attempting to interpret the meaning of language?; how do
these differences between human and algorithmic potentials for knowing the
world inflect potential decision making processes in the context of, say, optical
illusions on the road? To put these questions into more general, practical terms,
what can algorithms do that humans cannot, what can humans do that
algorithms cannot, what sorts of problems are these differences in potential likely
to create and how can the two be harmonized to produce the optimal outcome?
This final question concerning harmonization tends to create a bridge from
creating intellectual problems to finding practical solutions. I am looking for a
part-time, nonresidential consulting position (optimally 10-20 hours a week) on
smart city development, automated vehicle development and, or language
analysis development where I can bring my skill set to bear in analyzing existing
data, approaches, methodologies, theoretical frameworks, etc. with an eye to
intellectual problematization and practical solutions. I would greatly appreciate it
