I
n a class of over 200 students, the word LHS has come to bear
over 200 meanings: A refuge, a stage, a court, a field, a prison,
a home… in the four long years that we have inhabited the
stone walls of Lodi High School, we have each forged distinct
memoriesandfriendshipsandvictoriesandlossesthathavecome
to define us and the emotions evoked by that overused acronym.
Looking back to that September fourth of 2011, none of us could
have ever imagined the life that lay behind those blue double
doors, an entry that instilled within us a sense of dread as we first
walked up the gray paved path as awkward freshmen. We had
nothing to offer but our confusion and overstuffed backpacks,
we had nothing to go off of but cheesy high school sitcoms and
the tall tales passed on from our siblings, but now as we ride the
wave of seniority towards the rest of our lives, there’s no denying
that on that September day, we found something special.
Although today we may be cringing at the memory, that was the
day we found our home away from home. We found our stage.
We found our playing field. We found our sanctuary. We became
a part of something so much greater than ourselves. Today, no
longer are we the scared and anxious new kids, no longer does
that orange and blue facade instill within our hearts apprehension
and anxiety. Those emotions and misgivings have been cast away
in a sea of hazy memories and today we embrace our colors,
today we find comfort in the clang of old lockers, today we are
proud to say we are Rams. Today we are LHS. Today We Are...
