Brief Description of the Job:
Responsible for overseeing the daily activities and manage the performance of the culinary staff for the Decatur Civic Center.
Lead the training and developmental initiatives for the kitchen/catering for the Decatur Civic Center. Manage food costs and
culinary staff labor productivity. Ensure that all food production areas provide food items prepared and presented according to
set standards at all times, monitoring for taste, visual appeal, and established portions. Interact with guests and coordinate with
event team to ensure guest satisfaction.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Graduation from a well-known culinary school or demonstration of previous successful management of a quality
restaurant or food establishment. Minimum 5 years of progressive experience as a chef in a quality restaurant or
food establishment. Valid Texas Operator Driver's License. Current Food Handlers Management Certification.
Essential Functions:
1. Ability to manage, lead, coach, develop and train culinary staff.
2. Adhere to and teach other Decatur Civic Center staff the Health Department requirements. Inspect
kitchen to ensure proper hygiene, health and safety standards are strictly adhered to.
3. Experiments with new menu offerings, carries out existing menu offerings and trains staff on all menus.
4. Provides the Decatur Civic Center Director with projections of future costs, current costs of menu items
and provides monthly recap of events and costs of foods for events and catering.
5. Collaborates in the hiring of kitchen staff for the Decatur Civic Center with the Civic Center Director and
Human Resources. Prepares schedules for culinary staff. Evaluates culinary staff’s job performance in
an ongoing basis.
6. Assists in planning and developing the Decatur Civic Center budget for the kitchen and catering portion
of the facility.
FLSA: Exempt Hours: Full-time, Varies Salary Range: DOQ
