Kim Rodney believes that spirituality is part of the essence of life and finds meaning through it. They value the strength of women but also think some activities have traditional gender roles. Rodney places importance on protecting the environment due to living on a farm and values learning about different cultures and languages, influenced by being Canadian and their multicultural family history.
Finding essence through spirituality and opportunities for all
1. Spirituality: I believe through spirituality you find part of the essence in life. My Mom. Religion: I do believe that there is something more divine out there. I am not part of any organized religion, and do not have mixed feelings about religion. My mom. Ideology: I believe that everyone in the world should have the same opportunities. School has affected my belief about ideologies. Language: I speak English which I am very fortunate to have been raised with as it is the most common language. I am very interested in learning any languages but have not yet done it. My Mom. Relationship to Land: I am a farm kid so I place a huge value in how you are with the land and land ownership. As a result I would never sell any land I comeby. My dad Gender: From being a female I believe in and value the strength of women. I do believe that some things are “man things,” and some things are “women things,” but I don’t believe a woman’s place is back home scrubbing floors and baking. This is most affected by my parents. Media: I value media as it allows us to see and learn about the rest of the world very quickly. We can research anything in our own homes and learn of other cultures very easily. My education and the age we live in. Environment: I believe our environment should be protected and everything needs to be a bit more eco friendly. This comes from living on a farm and from my education. Culture: I have a wide array of backgrounds, all of them are European though, but I value learning about all my family’s history back in Europe. As a Canadian I have learned to value multiculturalism. My belief is very much affected by being a Canadian and my mom. Kim Rodney
