The corner of this building was destroyed by a car crash.
The brick were an unusual size so getting a good match was difficult.
The brick that matched in size were the wrong color.
No problem: color corrected with proven masonry stain.
The structure on the right was built in 1980, with 8” by 8” square brick blended in a seemingly random array of brown colors.
In 2001 the owners decided to add the 3-story structure on the left, but they could not find matching brick at a reasonable price.
The answer was to use a base of red-colored brick and use proven masonry staining to add nine different brown shades in a random pattern.
After 14 years of brutal winters and hot summers, it still looks this good.
This is the Morris Inn at Notre Dame University. Build in 1950 it is a campus landmark.
In 2012 a new south wing was constructed with a fine grained, wire-cut textured brick in a blend of orange, brown grey and cream colors. It looked great and was much more attractive than the old parts of the structure, which were made of brick in shades of grey.
So the decision was made to color the bricks and mortar in the old structure to match the range of colors in the new.
It looks great, will last for decades or as long as the surface of the masonry.

NONE – can prove their long term performance by showing dozens of long-lasting jobs.
(The brick is from an Ohio hospital that was stained by an imitator less than two years ago. Can you see the tiny blisters all over. This is a paint job. It will fail like a paint job, and removing the peeling paint will be extremely difficult.)
