Roles & Responsibilities
 Outlining safe operational practices & procedures to the general workforce, ensuring that all operational
activities are carried out in accordance with Company’s safety policies, statutory regulations & guidelines.
 Identifying and reporting various work-site accident hazards, and performing risk assessments designed to
mitigate such. (LTIFR & MTIFR).
 Make recommendations for correcting unsafe conditions and actions.
 Delivering safety induction training to new employees and contractors.
 Developing & maintain training & competency records.
 Ensuring periodic inspections of equipment is carried out accordingly
 Coordinating all accident / incident / near miss investigations as per client standards and ensuring accident
report forms are completed.
 Preparing, issuing & analysing required health, safety performance reports.
 Coordinate safety initiatives and awareness Campaigns.
 Upper manage Sub Contractors
 Advising on a range of specialist areas e.g. fire regulations, safe disposal of hazardous substances, noise,
safeguarding machinery and occupational disease, drug & alcohol awareness.
 Liaise and report on safety health and environmental issues on a regular basis with the SHE Manager
 Conduct independent safety audits and inspections and prepare and manage actions lists arising
 Support activities pursuant to achieving ISO14001 environmental management standard as well as
OSHAS 18001.
 Monitor standard of Toolbox Talks and in support of continuous improvement
 Chair weekly SHE steering committee meetings
 Analyse accident and incident reports for trends
 Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices, in order to ensure compliance
with safety standards and government regulations.
 Investigate accidents to identify causes and to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the
future.
 Maintain and update emergency response plans and procedures.
 Maintain inventories of hazardous materials and hazardous wastes, using waste tracking systems to
ensure that materials are handled properly.
 Order suspension of activities that pose threats to workers' health and safety.
 Conducted and coordinated on the job safety training to educate workers about safety policies, laws, and
practices.
 Recommended corrective action to appropriate management as a result of accident research and review of
injuries.
 Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or
materials.

Bevline Mechanical Projects – VOPAK Island View Project – 2016
H.S.E Officer for the Blend and Back of Birth plant sites in Durban harbour for VOPAK bulk oil and Petroleum
Storage facility. The Project consists of the refurbishment of the old blend plant as well as installation of new
pipe lines leading to the Port of Durban for export. Contracted for installation and fabrication for mild steel and
stainless steel petroleum and oil lines.
Roles and Responsibilities include:
 Outline safe operational practices & procedures to the general workforce, ensuring that all operational
activities are carried out.
 Preparing, introducing and monitoring concepts, rules & regulations governing occupational health and
safety fire protection and environment protection.
 Training site personal in matters related to occupational health and safety protection and accident
prevention in accordance with the pertinent accident prevention regulations.
 Planning and monitoring of accident alert rescue services, including first aid service reporting of health
and safety statistics including trend analyses.
 Coordination and monitoring of fire prevention and protection concepts during plant construction.
 Conducting safety meetings.
 Site walks with senior management.
 Liaison with client’s organization in questions of occupational health and safety environment protection
and physical security as well as third parties where needed. Coordination of permit to work system and
associated procedures at the project site during the construction period this includes support of
atmospheric testing for confined space work

Senior H.S.E Officer at Bevline Mechanical Projects fabrication workshop & head office. Fabrication of mild
steel & stainless steel pipe lines as well as site fabrication for Sapref & Engen Refinery sites, water tanks &
water purification plants around Durban KZN.
Roles and Responsibilities include:
 The implementation of all safety orientation, to monitor the workshop on a weekly basis, provide weekly
inspection reports, investigate and complete all accident/incident reports & investigations in a timely
manner.
 I am responsible for initiating and reviewing daily hazards, safety talks and safety committee meetings.
 I prepare and present the monthly safety report to senior management for review, monitor safety
performance, educate and encourage employees to take precautions and adhere to safety rules.
 Further duties include investigating all injuries, accidents and near misses, identifying the root cause

well as cooling stainless steel towers, which would be used to convert soy beans into different oils through the

structural steel erections and rigging.
